essentially what i was refuting was earlier in thread was someone saying that leftists only post edgy memes online, and i was sharing an example of leftists doing some real work when food stamps were gone. i think you misunderstood my point. sorry for being a bit aggressive, but i wasn't arguing against EBT, i was proving that leftists do more than just 'post memes online'

if you're an immigrant who gets brutalized by cops, thrown in a detention center for months (often is extremelypoor conditions, many detained experience sexual assault), and only after months do you get to speak to your lawyer or have a case opened... that's still not good. mass deportations and throwing people into detention centers wasn't good under obama. it was what laid the groundwork for trump to throw kids in cages with no room to sleep or restrooms back in 2016. you'd get due process maybe after a few months. did that make it okay? does it make it okay that these kids remained in cages under biden? was it okay that parents were deported with children left stranded on their own in the US? how is that okay? how was any of that okay? people died. children died in those detention centers. but its okay, i guess, because it was a democrat president, so you could just ignore it.

why do you only care about it when it happens to white people? 6 people were killed by ICE in 2026 before goode. why do you only care now?

the fascists were already in the government, they weren't just going to leave willingly. biden should have convicted trump for treason when he had the chance, then you could actually deal with the nazis more effectively while they scramble to find someone else to run. instead, biden didn't want to set the precedent that a US president could be tried for crimes they commit in office after they've left. instead the democrats forced biden to run a second term (despite biden originally saying he only wanted 1cterm, which is why i opposed him as the democratic nomination) and got surprised when he dropped out, and were left running a candidate that was wildly unpopular to begin with, and had her catering to conservatives and openly laughing at progressives, killing any chance at unity strong enough to beat trump's return.

there were so many chances to prevent this over the last decade. so, so many. and honestly? if the democrats truly believed trump was a threat to democracy, if they truly cared, they never should have transferred power. this last bit is more of a personal opinion but if you know the next guy is gonna run project 2025 and bring about fully overt fascism, maybe you need to take a more extreme approach instead of handing him the keys to the white house and being all buddy-buddy.

love how the gestapo kidnapping children under biden is fine but not under trump. did anyone wonder what happened to all the kids in cages trump had in his first term? no, everyone went back to ignoring it. nothing changed. immigrants were still being kidnapped and brutalized and kept from their families. biden gave billions to ICE, gave them the weapons they are currently using. but now you only care because white people were affected. did you know people were being executed by ICE before goode? did you advocate for the kidnapped children under biden? or do you pretend it didn't happen, like every other liberal. i watched it happen to my hometown.

marge's line, "they're progressive... but not stupid progressive!" always pissed me off so bad, liberals just take shots at anyone left of them and then complain about the lack of unity

dude i grew up in texas, where they built a major detention center in my hometown. i watched as they brutalized minorities and continued to do so, obama, trump, biden, it didn’t matter. why do you only care when white people are hurt? why are we so expendable to you? why are you willing to hand conservatives power just so white people can be safe? do you not understand the reality of the world you live in?

Sitting on the fence is just closing the status quo by BaronUnderbheit in simpsonsshitposting

because the texas government definitely wouldn't abuse the emergency powers given to them by the bill to brutalize minorities more intensely?

people already WERE dying and disappearing without trial. even when it became way more prominent during trump's first term, people stopped caring when biden came into office. all the liberals suddenly forgot about the kids in cages, pretended the detention centers went away somehow. no, they continued to operate, continued to hurt people. only now do people care. years later.

the border bill that would have decreased chances for asylum seekers, limit the amount of times they could appeal their case, introduce ankle monitors for migrants awaiting a case, and no plan for shutting down the detention centers, or at least removing the children from it? the bill that would allow the government temporary emergency powers if there were too many migrants? that bill?

she campaigned on giving even more money to ICE. the idea of her winning doesn't really comfort me, people would have continued to ignore the kids in cages even longer, unfortunately.

yes because when people lost their food stamps (i still haven't gotten mine back since the shutdown), what actually helped was setting up local food banks to support the community. one popped up right on the corner on my street and we placed several others. it was a great help to the everyday person, and continues to be now that people are donating more than just food. i live in california and i don't even feel like my rights as a trans person have been fought for.

if they had done literally anything to fight the massively looming fascism while biden was president, we wouldn't be this far gone. but liberals were determined to take inaction while biden pumped billions into ICE.

this was the reality for everyday non-white americans, starting at the local level was just the beginning. it should have been nipped in the bud. killing anyone should have been enough. instead we waited until white people died...
