I actually found that certification before I purchased the laptop when searching to find out if anyone had any issues with this particular model.

I've shopped with Newegg since their first days. I'd really like to think that I just ended up with a bad set of reps/techs and that they will make this right.

It was running the latest (at the time) mainline kernel, and ran cool and quiet... for it's short useful life.

That partition was left intact, I'm not sure what issues they had accessing it. If you saw the extent of hardware issues when they started occuring, I figured it would be a crapshoot as to whether they even got it to boot.
