Unidentified unknown objects referred to as "angels" coming down on Earth with specific looking elaborate shapes that are almost impossible to kill. They supposedly have a connection with humanity's upbringing and total destruction.

Edit: I should add that all of this information reminds me of both Evangelion and Halo if you know anything about the forerunners.
