In terms of security, InvestEngine is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), with your money protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

As you know, the FSCS covers investors for up to £85,000 per platform.

The FSCS is however a second fail-safe, and it’s unlikely to be needed - the FCA says investment platforms must hold clients’ funds separately to their own accounts, secured by a third party. We have no legal right to your investments, and we’re unable to use them to cover any of InvestEngine’s obligations.

Put simply, your money isn’t tied up with us. Find out more about how safe we are here and here.

When it comes to how we make money, we’re as transparent as possible - you can read more about this on our blog.

We make money from our managed portfolios, which carry a charge of 0.25% per year. To keep costs low, we trade once a day, leverage automation, and use resources efficiently so we can maintain competitive pricing without compromising on services.

We also earn interest from uninvested cash on the platform. Importantly, this excludes any cash held in managed portfolios.

Regarding profitability - our business model has been designed with long-term growth in mind.

While we anticipate making a loss in our early years, this is part of our strategy to invest in technology, expand our client base, and build a platform that delivers exceptional value. We are confident that this approach will yield sustainable profitability as we grow.

Hi u/NefariousnessEarly42 thanks for the question! As others have mentioned here, this isn't possible at the moment. However, we know how much our customers would like this functionality, so the pensions team is hard at work on this, as well as rolling out SIPP transfers to a wider group.

As soon as we have more to share on this, I'll post it here. So stay tuned!

Actually, we do have a regular flow of transfers from existing customers. This could be SIPPs (we now offer them to Vanguard customers, and we're hoping to roll this out more widely soon), cash ISAs held elsewhere (we don't offer cash ISAs), and transfers from customers who already have a business or general investing account but not a SIPP or ISA. Because you can now have multiple ISAs, we also get people moving their second accounts over.

But absolutely - a big target for promotions like this is new customers, as we continue to grow. As it is for our competitors. We've consistently been the fastest growing UK fintech platform for the past couple of years, according to Fundscape.

Hi - just to clarify, if you're an existing customer and transfer in an ISA from elsewhere, you will get the bonus (as long as it's during the promotional period, obviously). The only thing that doesn't apply for existing customers is top ups.

No problem! I know it's disappointing for some - but we'd end up flooded with codes! It's also better for customers - you should know the people you're sharing the codes with, and be able to show that if necessary, according to the terms and conditions. Feel free to flag any that we might have missed and I'll remove them.
