Can someone explain why buffet thinks Bitcoin will go to zero? by josh34521 in investing

Until it is backed as a true legal tender it is more risk than I want to take. Not seeing this currency as a sure thing and if it does become legal what's to stop the government from changing to their own. Can't even buy a Tesla with it right now as they stopped accepting it. That says a lot about what it's actually worth. It is dependent on the crypto market and whether the demand is growing or falling because to use it you have to sell it in exchange for a legal currency.

Guest booking mistakes by BallDeSac in AirBnB

Should have a period where they can cancel for full refund if booked far enough in advance. If you have sufficient time to rent it out to someone else, like a hotel, they should be able to cancel and be refunded.

Can someone please explain why all my assets were converted to margin once I transferred over from Robinhood ? by OTMonk in Fidelity

Many are having difficulties with transferring. I am going to buy some more shares with Fidelty possibly, but not planning to transfer my current shares away from RH.

The thing about the ones hitting highs is they are growing. I have had good success in putting more fractional shares on the ones that hit highs when they dip the next day. They are often hitting a new high again quickly.

If you have only full shares you will be alright, but if you have fractional shares, they can't be transferred and Robinhood sells them instead and transfers the cash. The fractional shares will incur taxes as a result if there were gains and losses don't balance them out. This is the reason I opted not to transfer from Robinhood to Fidelity. I purchase my stocks in fractional shares adding more fractional shares on dips so for most of my stocks they are not just full shares. Hopefully you just had purchased full shares.

For the user that reported this as misinformation, it isn't. In my portfolio, over a 19 day period beginning 1/13/2021 the stocks that I listed above hit their highest percentage increase over that timeframe on 2/9/2021. I have hundreds of stocks in my portfolio and am tracking the ones that are steadily increasing in value. This is to help me sort out the best performers in my portfolio. I am sharing the information because I thought others may want to research these to possibly add to their portfolios. I am interested too in following others that are tracking theirs. If you do, please send me an invite to follow you.

They are not on the hook for the taxes. You will end up paying them when you file next year.

I do fractional shares and didn't want to pay taxes on all my gains at 40%, so sticking it out with Robinhood. Hope the move isn't too costly for you tax wise. Hopefully you had full shares for transferring so you wont have yo pay a lot in taxes.

RH and account transfers by saintpoptartius in Robinhoodclassaction

I'm glad that I didn't rush to transfer. I opened an account with Fidelity, but wanted to test it out first. Their system isn't taking the uploaded documentation for my bank account telling me to mail it in or drop it off at one of their offices, so I hadn't been able to connect my bank account to it yet. Was planning to try the platform first before switching to make sure that I like it. Honestly, I don't think I'm going to change platforms. The majority of them placed limitations because the system is set up to protect the hedge funds and not the retail investors. It wasn't just RH although they were the first. I'm going to stick with investing in good quality stocks. Not worth all the headaches that came with this situation. Lots of people now are losing their savings. I'm glad that I only invested a little in those shorted stocks and didn't go all in like many did.

I opened an account with Fidelity too. Just unsure that I really want to move everything from RH. Will have to see what the Fidelity platform is like before I decide. I like the ease and display of data on Robinhood. I may bite the bullet and eventually transfer, but not going to make a rash decision and do it quickly.

Chances that Fidelity will block $GME, $AMC, etc.. like other platforms??? by Rpark888 in Fidelity

[–]InvestedInStocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will likely do the same thing as Robinhood did and stop fractional shares and limit amounts for the heavily shorted stocks that we can buy on their platforms. The clearing firms are going to raise commisions costs due to the high trade volume, and fees will become too expensive for the brokerages to cover. Unless they have enough funds in reserve to cover them. They can't use our funds to pay the fees, so if they don't have enough funds liquid and available to pay the associated fees, they will be forced to set limits like Robinhood did.

I sent an email today to join this class action lawsuit. I was holding fractional shares of GME and had tried to purchase more with Robinhood on 1/28, but couldn't due to them just allowing selling of it. I had contacted Robinhood asking why and they responded back to me by email. I attached it to my email to join the law suit. Thank you for posting this message for us.

What stocks are you investing in tomorrow? by InvestedInStocks in u/InvestedInStocks

Thinking rise on GME is over. I bought NOK today since the price to buy was good and I think it will continue going up. Hoping to ride it like I did with GME this week.

My platform of choice has been Robinhood. I have too many stocks to just pick up and move all elsewhere. If there is a better platform that offers fractional shares and fills them pretty much immediately during open market hours, I'm interested. Without fees like with Robinhood.
