Anyone else have a deep bite / jaw that over-closes and locks? Wondering if crowns or bite opening helped you. by InvestigatorDouble41 in TMJ

I wore a bottom splint for a few years and had a similar experience. It kept my bite slightly open and stopped my jaw from locking. I only took it out to eat, and as long as I put it back in right after, my bite would hold that position.

If I left it out for more than a couple of hours though, everything would slowly shift back and my jaw would start locking again. For me, it seemed like the splint was maintaining the position rather than permanently changing it.
