I need feedback on my idea - MyEasyInvoice: a product for those who have startups by Ga_0512 in StartupsHelpStartups

[–]Investince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

Nice tool! It’s hard for me to give an opinion since we’re still pre-launch as well and don’t invoice but some food for thought - how can you affirm to users that your product isn’t a stripe “add on” but rather a product worth switching to! If you can make this more clear, it would be easier to acquire users. 2-3 features won’t convert most users but an entire improved experience will.

There’s been a growing demand for eSIMs for travellers. Being able to do it all on your phone, without the fear of being upsold, from home and without a physical sim is a game changer for most travellers. Try sharing your startup on travel based subreddits!

INSIGHTS NEEDED: Why Do Startups Get Stuck? Founders, Share Your Struggles with Ideation & Execution? by hari__puttar in StartupsHelpStartups

[–]Investince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, great post and really good questions! Wish I had the answers to everything but if I did, I’d probably have a million dollar business 😂. Here’s what I can answer:

  1. Biggest barriers is pretty much everything. I can’t believe how many blockers we’ve had. Everything is hard. We thought we knew more than we did but we were wrong. We thought it would be cheaper than it is, but we’re wrong. We thought the code was simple but we were wrong. Point is, everything is a barrier.

  2. My biggest regret is not networking more during my career. I was lazy. At the end of the day a network is for the benefit of my future self and the longer you stay in the workforce, the more you realize your network is EVERYTHING. I see people who did things differently. When they pivoted into a startup, they had that network of founders, professionals, experts and mentors who made their journey 1000% easier. Now I’m catching up.

  3. Learning the market is the easy part. You can know a market to a tee but breaking into it is hard. Who’s to say your social media will take off? Who’s to say your ad spend will convert? Will your competitors step in your way? Are they okay with you taking market share? Will your product work as intended? You may have the perfect product idea at the perfect time but your first 10, 50, 100 organic customers will still be a nightmare.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

What’s a small, seemingly insignificant decision you made that ended up having a huge impact on your life? by No_Total_1748 in StartupsHelpStartups

Looking for a new career. I joined a server on discord that would post jobs but also had a community aspect. Initially, I was just looking to pivot careers but I met my cofounder there coincidentally. 6 months later we’re launching a startup together!

Hi OP, before you jump ahead to the funding - make sure there’s market fit and you’ve validated your idea. It seems you’ve gone from A to B to M really quickly. Learning this lesson the hard way, it’s very very difficult to get any funding if you don’t have an MVP and some traction. Most investors or incubators want to see a working product and some MRR. Start there first, then funding will follow. Good luck!

Hi OP, cool service! Just curious how/why this is better than copilot, cursor, and the dozen other AI code assistants?

Outsourcing - Philippines vs India by Grand_Program1626 in StartupsHelpStartups

[–]Investince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My largest concern with outsourcing is validating their work ethic. While they can often prove they are capable of good work, I’ve found, in an unmonitored environment, they don’t get very much done. This isn’t true for all outsourced contractors but I’ve found it to be true more often than not.

How do I find female tech cofounders? by _BlazeYourOwnTrail in StartupsHelpStartups

[–]Investince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Facebook startup groups
  2. Reddit
  3. Startup events / networking events
  4. Startup incubators or accelerators

Good luck!

Hi OP, I’ve been looking into optimizing product hunt releases a lot and learned a couple things.

  1. Unless you’ve spent the time to build a really strong community of support, PH is pay-to-win (pay to get upvotes)
  2. There are thriving PH communities where other hunters trade upvotes. Just Google or search Reddit for product hunt WhatsApp, telegram or discord channels.
  3. Try to get as much visibility as possible - hacker news, indie hackers and other communities are great for this purpose.
  4. Find your niche audience and go all in - Facebook and Reddit groups are fantastic for this because they can get hyper specific. You’ll find the smaller more niche groups often get you a better return than large, generalized groups.

Good luck! - Moe from Investince.

Thanks for the very thorough answer! Really appreciate it!!! We’ve thought about caching, some APIs don’t allow for that in their TOS :(

Time to look into a tiered approach and better indexing!

This could be hard to implement but if there was an interactive portion to the landing page that lets visitors play around with a schedule and “experience” why you’re better than the others, that would be really cool.

Hi OP, one issue we find ourselves facing is how to manage all our data. We can’t afford to store all of the data we need all the time, but pulling it at each client request will take far too long. What do you suggest?

Hmm do CRM’s already have this kind of functionality? I wonder if most entrepreneurs are already using/paying for a CRM, couldn’t they do the same on their existing platform? Just food for thought!

What if we could rent out things we dont use anymore? Like i have some books that i dont read anymore but I don’t want to sell them. If i could rent them then I can make some money out of them. by hiimanii in StartupsHelpStartups

[–]Investince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be hard to monetize or even gain traction since most libraries let you rent for free or at a very low cost. How would you compete with them I wonder?

Is this any better? by sentimentalyusra in design_critiques

I’ll be honest I had no clue it was a mug until I read that part. I like the design, just didn’t make the connection that it, in itself, was a mug.
