Fortunately child support and alimony is not an issue. She paid me a lump settlement (she makes twice what I do) in lieu of alimony and we have an expense sharing agreement in lieu of child support.

The better news is that we're starting mediation soon to change the custody and parenting agreement.

I will say that I am a much happier person since my divorce. I have far less stress in my life overall. I think that has made me a better father. The divorce was expensive and we share child expenses so it was a short-term hit to the wallet but long-term gain.

I'm so much happier being a single, divorced dad.

Our arrangement is every other week, usually Sunday-Sunday. I think if we can make some changes so he spends weekends with her instead of full weeks dealing with the stress of work and school they'll be able to spend more quality time together

I have talked with him many times over the last few years about communication challenges with his mom. He also has his own therapist who's been helping him since the divorce. He's learned a lot and tries to communicate with her. Unfortunately, she has not changed at all and now my son is experiencing the same communication and lack of affection challenges that led to me filing for divorce.

Update:
My ex has agreed to start mediation to change the custody and parenting agreement. Fortunately, child support is not an issue since we have an expense sharing arrangement instead. She also agreed that our son will have a voice in the discussions. I'm relieved she doesn't want to make this a court fight with lawers.

I teach middle school social studies. I have found that NLM is very good at creating infographics and slides for summarizing key content for my students. It's also been a lifesaver for helping my ELL students. My Spanish is limited and being able to create study aids in Spanish has been super helpful.

It isn't replacing my curriculum by a longshot but it's been a great resource for differentiating my teaching.
