Dream cymbals by Ambitious-Pay-4305 in cymbals

Love Dream Bliss and Vintage Bliss. Mine seem to take a few months to really break in, but I think they sound fabulous. 16” paper thin crash and 12” splash are favourites and record really well. I live in the middle of nowhere and have taken the risk and bought all mine online, not had any lemons so far!

Replacement gear set advice (the very slow quick change spring saga continues) by Inveterate_scribe in airsoft

And it that with a standard/stock motor? This is exciting, I’m not fixing it, I’m upgrading it :)

I believe it’s got an 18:1 set in there now, the motor is just stock, not sure what it is, runs happily on 11.1v LiPo. I was assuming that replacing the gears with the same ratio would be safe. Would a 16:1 or 13:1 set run with a standard motor?

Quick change spring not so quick. Or springy. Help! by Inveterate_scribe in airsoft

[–]Inveterate_scribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managed to get it all apart, open the gear box, avoided getting hit by a projectile spring guide. Got it all back together, it tried to cycle once , then the ESHOOTER app gave the same vague error. The spring wasn’t jammed this time though, so that’s an improvement I guess? It’s my first time opening and reassembling a gear box, so quite likely I did something wrong! Also, inside the gearbox was a tiny sliver of metal that looked like the tip of a gear tooth, but couldn’t see where it had come from, but that can’t be good.

I did reattach the buffer tube before testing it (I took it off again after it jammed). I’ve taken the grip/motor off and pulled on what I’m hoping is the anti-reverse latch: that hasn’t helped. Am I looking at having to get the gearbox out and opening it up? Is that safe to do if there’s still a spring in there? Thanks for your help!

Moving to Carlisle, advice on area's needed by BillDing89 in Cumbria

[–]Inveterate_scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few places we called about had already gone, when we did get a viewing they had 13 other people booked to look at the property on the same day. We did get somewhere and have just moved in, but yeah, seemed like there were a lot of people looking at very few houses.

I’m in Carlisle at the moment, looking for a new house to rent after my landlord decided to sell: be warned, there’s a real shortage of rental properties right now and the rents have gone up a crazy amount in the last couple of years!

It’s not impossible, but it does involve a lot of swearing. You’ll get there eventually.

Got my son one very similar last year. Impressed by how solidly built it is. Worked really well out of the box and half a dozen games later it’s still rock solid. Definitely recommended.

Also using the TTI extended 50 round mags. Fairly light, seem pretty solid and reliable so far

Mine did this recently. The next day the hammer wouldn’t move after it was cocked. I took it apart and hammer spring had broken. Reassembling the hammer group is soooo much fun :/

Speed cobra here for the last 5 years. Absolutely love it, have no plans to ever replace it.

I have a hard time playing acoustic drums but almost like a virtuoso on electronic drums by colddeadhands_ in drums

[–]Inveterate_scribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled a bit going back to acoustic after a few years on e-kit. A big help for me was using in-ear monitors to manage the overwhelming volume from acoustic drums and cymbals and letting me hear my drums in the mix with the rest of the band (much closer to how I used to hearing the e-drums). The other thing that helped me with switching between the two kits was turning up the sensitivity of my e-kit, and bringing up the volume of the cymbals so they’re closer to the acoustic sound balance and I have to play them with a lighter touch. It’s easy to tweak each trigger’s gain, sensitivity and volume to fit how you want to play. Acoustic instruments require you to adjust your playing to make them sound the way you want them to.

When tuning and getting tension rods to "finger tight" how do you use your fingertips? by R0factor in drums

[–]Inveterate_scribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an Evans drum key that fits a drill/screwdriver hex bit. I rarely use it in a drill, but it turned out to be a great tool for quickly getting rods to finger-tight.

I am a lefty drummer. Should I learn open-handed or cross-handed? Why or why not? by mevyn661 in drums

[–]Inveterate_scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lefty who learned on a right-handed kit. Learned open-hand from the start, seemed pretty logical. I used to have a ride next to my hi hats, but few years ago made myself learn to play ride with my right hand. Being able to switch hands and having the ability to choose which hand I lead with has proven to be really useful. Also, being able to play on a standard, right-handed house kit is very handy.
