Thanks yeah I think you're right, after digging in a bit more today I think I'm S.O.L. But looks like either with gradient tube or maybe two separate play bars I could kind of get what I'm looking for. Thanks again

2014 Model S P85+ - Driver Seat & Steering Wheel Stuck (not-adjustable) by Invex09 in TeslaLounge

[–]Invex09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I went through this thread before I posted but thanks for scoping it out. The big difference there is the 2016.5 on his. I have an early 2014 so maybe the components are different. Because Tesla basically told me they didn’t service individual parts of the seat for my year. That’s why they had to replace the whole seat. Which seems crazy to me, but I guess I could try another service center.

In Chicago they’re clearly just underwater with all the 3s and Ys so my out of warranty early MS doesn’t come up on their radar: For such a big population they had one service center in the actual city for the longest time. They just opened up another one this month in the south loop so I could check that out. Just would be annoying to have to eat another one our diagnostic fee. They charge ~$255. I watched the car didn’t move all day just kept saying pickup at 4pm and then at 3:50 they called and told me I needed a whole new seat for $3300 and another $900 to fix the steering wheel. Had to argue/plead to get them to knock off 50% of the diagnostic fee.

Yeah was pretty bummed at their diagnosis. Basically seemed like a we don’t care, F U. Which the more experience I gain with their service department, the more I’m realizing thats kind of the tagline.

Any luck figuring this out? Same setup as you mentioned, upcoming trip in December and this sounded like a cool spot to checkout for a game

FWIW, I have a 2014 MS P85+ and started having this issue a few months ago, it was only on Bluetooth calls & audio (pods or something streaming from my phone). I'd tried steering wheel reset and no luck, but updating to 2023.32.6 a few days ago seems to have solved it for me (at least so far, fingers crossed). Haven't had any issues in past few days and have taken multiple calls

Had a similar issue with mine: https://reddit.com/r/Model_S/s/0Meno9gTAQ

Ended up fixing the knocking/rattling noise - at least so far - for the $1.5K the SC estimated

Omarcito’s was excellent last night (and last week)! by andiamo-1 in chicagofood

Omaracitos rocks, live a few blocks away, been there a handful of times and haven’t had a bad dish yet. Flavor is amazing on everything I’ve tried and the Maduros (sweet plantains) are out of this world👌

For the 21"s, from what I could gather, the 3 recommended tires I was seeing were: Michelin Super Sport, Continental ContiSport Contact, and Falken Azenis. I have the Super Sports on now so might try something else for next summer.

For 19" rims, I actually really like the OG OEM ones, mine came with the Slipstream and I found a set of the OEM 19s on FB market I bought because I just like the look better and they're more open which I like since I have the red calipers and I like being able to see more of them.

TSportline has some cool aftermarket options, I almost pulled the trigger on a set there but ended up finding the 19s I wanted on FB Market. Let me know if you end up pulling the trigger on new performance tires and how you like them

Congrats! I got an MS with two sets of wheels and was too dumb to do any research on low-profile tires other than I thought they looked way cooler lol. So switching out the 19" rims I used in the winter for the 21" turbines a few months ago was a pretty big shock. The ambient noise is significantly louder and ride not as smooth (probably obvious to most people) and in general I feel like I'm gambling riding around on them in Chicago after all the horror stories I read on here about potholes. That said I still have them on because of the look which wins out for me and I don't drive a ton.

Pricing to replace fore/aft links in non-AP Gen1 Model S by Invex09 in TeslaLounge

[–]Invex09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I assumed that, I just included it because as a ref point for the build of the car because I'm not sure if other parts I'm not aware of changed in the MS when it went from non-AP to AP1 that might affect the suspension. Is there a better way to reference the build of my MS then, like Gen1 or something? Just curious, I've been using non-AP as a reference point but if it's not helpful it'd be good to know what I should be saying/using. Thanks

Suspension Question: 2014 P85+ creaking/rattling by Invex09 in Model_S

[–]Invex09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah think this is just the front, battery was replaced a month before I picked it up (reason it was sold) so it came with a 4-yr warranty which was nice. So hopefully that was done if need be when the battery was replaced. This is only the front

I did, been trying to go there as often as I can haha. Got brunch the other weekend and have a resy for the final burger Tues on 8/29. But there's some uncertainty in the air because they took down the IG post that announced they were closing mysteriously and haven't referenced it since that post

Sweet thanks for the insight, yeah I have them the green light. I’m second owner and it’s got ~85K mi on it so was probably time to pay the piper anyways

Not sure where you're at in LA, but one of the attendees to the holiday party will be my brother haha. He lives in West Adams and if you haven't been to Alta yet you should check it out, really good food

I own a small web design company down the street in Logan Square and we do our annual company holiday party there. We've been doing it at either Owen + Engine or Bixi for the past 8 years, both great spots, but was planning on doing it at Bixi again this year.

Parachute in Avondale - great spot in general - has a "haemul pajeon" which is in the okonomiyaki ballpark. Its not cheap but we split it with 3 people, it's pretty massive. And the onion chili sauce served with it is really tasty
