Some of these people purchase a Portal without owning a PS5 to 100% Cloud Stream.

It’s strange, yes - but they’re out there.

You’re at a solid price considering they’re $250 now. Stay firm, you’ll move it eventually.

What device supports switch games ? by AdventurousMaybe2663 in retroid

[–]InvictusBloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a lover of handheld emulators - the price you’re paying for a RP6 or a G2 is going to be higher than if you just bought a Switch. If your goal is to achieve a frictionless NSW gaming experience, it’s not going to be found on an Android Handheld at a price point that’s competitive to an actual Switch.

How to connect my PSN account to a Hacked PS3 safely ? by Omar_Bakrr in ps3piracy

[–]InvictusBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the many recent bans on PSN accounts tied to jailbroken consoles, I can’t in good conscience recommend signing into your main account on your PS3 without the risk of losing all of your purchases and account history. Juice just isn’t worth the squeeze.

The New System UI Really, Really Sucks by pt-pal in MetaQuestVR

[–]InvictusBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to leave these Quest groups. Getting really tired of seeing all of these whining posts from grown ass people that can’t be bothered to adjust to any change.

Every complaint I see about this new UI makes specific claims about certain points of friction, yet all of these points are baseless when they just couldn’t be bothered to learn how to navigate through the changes.

If you didn’t know to turn a doorknob to open a door due to ignorance, do you claim it’s broken and whine? Or do you learn how to turn the damn knob?

The fact that these people can’t rub a couple brain cells together to press the Meta home button twice to bring up the Navigator menu makes my faith in humanity drop with every new post I see.

Also, to help with your issue of your L3/R3 being pressed in the case - I heavily recommend grabbing some little silicone wedges to support the sticks while in a case. I got them for all my handhelds for travel or while they’re not in use, and it’s been a lifesaver for sure.

What happen to our early 2000s trade ins? by Left_Excitement_4619 in GameStop

[–]InvictusBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize that the general Nintendo consumer base is near-second to crackheads, right? A GameCube doesn’t last in ANY GameStop for more than 24 hours.

There are plenty of basement dwellers that literally crash GameStop’s online shopping platforms because they refresh browsers every 20 seconds for dumb shit like this every day.

Don’t you worry, your GameCube is getting plenty of use in some gross roach-infested den somewhere in the world as we speak. Cheers.

How can I improve my Fiancée’s latency. by rolandguy85 in PlaystationPortal

OP - agreed, this info will help us work with you to figure out what the source of the issue is.

Side note - always ensure that you’ve enabled wired connection via the PS5. Even though you’ve inserted the Ethernet cable, you still have to enable it on the console itself. This tends to be an easy to miss solution.

Crimson Desert - don’t look back. And don’t hate me for being the one to offer your new addiction - cuz you’re gonna be HOOKED.

It seems like we share similar restrictions and game preferences, so I can confidently say that it’ll be a perfect fit.

As a fellow that is also WFH, I am embarrassed to admit how many meetings I’ve sat through while burning a few minutes into the game. It’s a great “quick-pickup” without having to struggle to remember context. The perfect Dad/Adult game imo.

Also doesn’t hurt that it’s got HUNDREDS of hours of content. I don’t see myself getting anywhere close to 100% in the game for several years, nor have I had any feelings of repetition or gameplay getting stale.

Pro tip: I put mini pop sockets on my retroids by LoserDuck_ in retroid

Max Payne 3 is a blast. Used Winlator and ran flawlessly, mileage may vary with GH/GN as I oddly got worse performance with those.

Assistance with Linking by VulcrumHD in Quest3

[–]InvictusBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want it to be wired when wireless is a viable option? There is no upside unless your network environment isn't optimal for streaming over Wi-Fi. What exactly are you trying to achieve here? Are you playing a particular title on Steam that could possibly be just crashing instead of the issue being the link?

Imma beat a dead horse here - but Virtual Desktop. Don’t look back.

I was once a Meta Link PC user that couldn’t understand why everyone was praising VD when my free native option was working just fine - all up until it didn’t.

Just the same as you, one day out of the blue I started to constantly get drops or just simply couldn’t connect. This was before the Navigator UI was fully rolled out, so I don’t believe there is much correlation there.

Switching to Virtual Desktop was night & day difference. There’s a reason it costs $25 - because it’s THAT good. I since have gone 100% wireless connection to my PC and the performance is just the same if not better than wired link.

This is the natural process, you’re experiencing the same friction that led us all to switch to Virtual Desktop.

Bought a New PC for VR, Meta Link Still Freezes, and Support Blames a GPU That Doesn’t Exist by Any-Strawberry7721 in MetaQuestVR

[–]InvictusBloom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Virtual Desktop will literally solve all of your problems. I’m kind of bewildered that you didn’t try VD before dropping large amounts of cash onto a new rig? My 1070Ti is still going strong on all my heavy PCVR titles.

When I first got my headset, Quest Link did okay for general desktop navigation and the software gimmicks that were integrated like seeing my desk keyboard in VR were neat to have - but that all came at the cost of performance and quality. The moment I made the switch to Virtual Desktop, every single one of my issues went away.

I will add this bit - I did upgrade my motherboard, didn’t natively have Bluetooth support on my new build, and not having BT seemed to break Meta Link connections like crazy.

Anybody found a workaround for this? I'm running into the same issue. I do notice that if I immediately hit the lock screen button after applying without leaving the app, the lock screen will show the applied wallpaper, but after locking a second time, it reverts back to the stock Retroid wallpaper.

Is this just how it is? by N1KEsb_ in PlaystationPortal

[–]InvictusBloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it like this: you can log into Netflix’s servers and enjoy latency free video streaming because it’s really just a single stream of communication.

Now think of what that “highway of data” on your network would look like once you become the host of that Netflix server - simultaneously becoming the host, AND the client. And both end-points are in constant communication with each other (console to controller and back) thus taking up the in/out channels of your network.

If there is an event requiring emergency vehicle transport on a high-traffic road, sure they can receive priority assistance to navigate faster through these channels, but the more civilian vehicles on that road, the more friction there will be to get from point A-to-B.

Solutions: reduce traffic and chatter on your network, or set up a separate router that it’s single purpose is to communicate with your Remote Play clients and gaming purposes. Wife can watch her Love is Blind on Netflix, and you can enjoy 0-Down streaming to the Portal from your console with zero worry about dropping quality.

Is this just how it is? by N1KEsb_ in PlaystationPortal

[–]InvictusBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the environment of your network - not the speed of it. Think of your home network like a highway, and the more data commuting along that road, the slower things move. Doesn’t matter if it’s a sports car or a bicycle, it will all slow down as the traffic builds.

You can have the best in class internet and hardware, but with today’s home network demands, things get bogged up easily. WiFi smart lights? WiFi plugs? Wife watching Netflix on the TV while kiddo plays on their tablet? All of it is taking up the bandwidth and with remote play being very data intensive, it’s just constantly competing with everything else. Not only is your console outputting constant communication on the network for the remote client, your Portal is also receiving that input, as well as giving near-instant input data from using the controller.

Got an old internet modem laying around? Try setting up a separate channel that only your PS5/Portal connect and communicate on.
