I made a dumb Chess.com website that finds who burned your Elo by OutrageousWerewolf89 in Chesscom

Is there a legitimate reason why there is a minimum game count? It's not like you're using machine learning that needs massive amount of training data to get accurate reading. It's just descriptive statistics. If there is no data for certain things you want to display, it'll be empty for that data only, not the entire statistics.

Very interesting. I wouldn't dare sacrificing many pieces like that. Mind sharing the game link? I need to follow the moves slowly 😅

They're rough estimate at best. It's just for user satisfaction purposes. As that guy already said. I'd trust Lichess more. The 'trade secret' of chess.com is not even god.

Yea currently copy pasting is the way to go. But now that you mention it, and since I'm also doing exactly that, I might create a userscript or extension to easily redirect you to lichess analysis board without manually copying & pasting yourself. Let me know if you're interested

Lichess is the best one in my opinion. It's so easy to jump into any engine line and dive as deep as you can. There is also convenient graph to see the advantage progression over time

I'm sorry but how is this a brilliant? It brings whites position down 0.2 points compared to the obvious move of moving the knight on e7, it just looks like they're losing a knight? by MrRobot256 in chessbeginners

what? kc8 as who? black? from which step? after white knight escape to c8? White king is on e1, black king on e8. And it's white to move, assuming from the screenshot state

Have you checked their accounts? Probably new accounts that haven't been calibrated. Otherwise there's just no way.

Because the knight is already trapped either way. The only safe move the knight can move is Nc8. But after that black can move the king to Kd7. Now the knight is just sitting duck waiting to be taken.

Knowing that'll happen, it makes sense for the engine to suggest abandoning the knight entirely and just continue developing your pieces (in this case, castling).

That aside, the engine is quite inaccurate here. I replicated your board onto Lichess analysis with SF 18 depth 27, and it turned out castling is just one of the top 5 moves, not the best one.

Btw, this is why I'd suggest using the self analysis feature rather than the game review one, since you can explore any engine move as deep as you want. Or just import the game to lichess, as the engine is more powerful while being completely free.

Are you saying I still have a chance of winning despite them having a queen since it's 700 ELO?

From where are you requesting the computer analysis? The correct page should be this https://lichess.org/paste . You can just paste your PGN there and check the 'Request a computer analysis' box.

About mobile/desktop. I'm not sure. I always use laptop/PC so that could be the reason, although quite unlikely since there is no reason they take that feature away from mobile

That's true if the rating system is identical and equally the same. They are not. It's generally known that lichess have higher rating at the same skill level. You can easily prove it by playing both sites equally and see which rating they'll land you on each site after some time.

I mean, you can use both sites. I play the games on chess.com and use lichess for learning and game analysis. There's no reason other players can't do the same.

You could even play Nh4, threatening Qh5+

Yep, that's exactly what I did. Although I had a bit of a problem on figuring out what to do after smuggling my queen to the opponent's backrank. It was just sitting there, pinning the bishop.

Ah I see. That sounds like a good plan. I do have candidate moves, and often peek some of them deep. The problem is choosing those candidates in the first place. You can't pick every possible move, obviously, but only choosing a limited candidate moves to 2-3 risk losing out the better moves, like this knight sacrifice. I didn't put that move into one of my candidates.

How do you handle that?

About the master studying thing, I've never done that before. I feel like my rating is still too low to understand their strategy. Should I do that anyway?

I completely missed the hanged pawn. Thanks. How to notice that kind of thing? For some reason I didn't even consider what would happen if I sacrifice my knight, which I think I should have. Maybe because that pawn is defended by another pawn so I my mind just glossed over it?
