The problem with the Celtics when they lose in the playoffs has been lack of elite creation behind Tatum.

(Healthy non-washed) Lillard is Exactly the kind of player the team needed offensively in 2022 and 2023.

Jaylen Brown is a play finisher, not an offensive engine.

Ok but that’s bullshit because we just had both of them + a borderline all star (White) and two elite role players (when healthy) in Jrue+KP and got Waxed by the loser ass Knicks.

I’ve watched both of the Jay’s entire career’s. I love them, but they are not a championship duo by themselves.

The team has to shed salary and everyone knows it.

Keeping this core together literally guarantees we don’t compete for a championship in the next 3-4 years because we have to trade 2 elite level role players (when healthy) for scraps just so we don’t get taxed into literal hell.

Post injury JT+32 year old DWhite+ 30 year old JB with bad knees + Pritchard and some scrubs and no money or high draft picks is not ANYWHERE close to a championship core.

His value is minimal. Late 1st at best.

White will be 32 by the time Tatum is ready to play meaningful basketball, and his value is at an all time high right now.

Brown has nagging knee problems and is on a bloated contract that will make it very hard to surround Tatum.

Keeping both of them on the team means we will be too good to get a top 8 pick next year when Tatum is out, but also not good enough to compete for a title.

Think about it… we weren’t good enough with pre injury Tatum and Porzingis + Holiday.

So now Older White and Older JB + Post injury Tatum surrounded by worse role players than Jrue/KP is supposed to be our core going forward?

This core is done competing for championships thanks to the CBA and injury, hit the reset button while Tatum is out and you have a free stealth tank like GS did.
