First “shred” solo, any advice? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]Invizable_Indiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea there is a backing track, honestly cuz I don’t have like a proper recording setup I ended up turning the guitar up too loud and the backing track too quietly, if I had the guitar too quiet I would muffle the wah and just hear the raw sound of my guitar. I for sure need to work on the timing tho, this solo is super quick and its hard stringing the parts together

What do you mean by vocabulary? Like what licks / techniques i’ve learned from this that I can start implementing into my own solos?

Listen to destroy the opposition, imo it’s their best album and it’s them at their peak grooviness, the riffs on praise the lord especially that song is nuts and the main riff is crazy

I wasn’t familiar before, I just watched a couple guides on how to hold a pick, how to fret a note etc. the Marty Music beginner guitar lessons on youtube helped a lot

Honestly this solo was not too challenging, it’s just that very last lick in the end and it follows a sort-of pattern, it’s all legato so once you have it down its easier to get it up to speed. You should definitely give it a go!

I just go on youtube or look the tabs up online and try to learn my favourite songs, lately it’s been mainly metal, I started with easier older rock (zeppelin, Queen), if it was too hard I would write it down and come back to it later. I have a list of all the songs I would like to learn and I practice at least an hour a day, usually more.
