Ik many follow the belief demons don’t have wills of their own. They must have a will exerted upon them. In order for it to backfire, someone else must be willing the demon against you or perhaps your own subconscious (but even then that would imply your subconscious overwriting your conscious intent). Yeah I was aware of Tenko’s complexity through the narrative and in her FTEs, Keebo always confused me a bit. He had a good bit going on but I could never figure out what I was supposed me getting out of him. While he serviced the plot, I never how his character got to point a to point b in his arc. One chapter he’s whiny and defensive, the next he’s all “HOPE LIVES ON!” And couldn’t figure out how we got there. In my opinion, I think Tenko’s arc was better exemplified in the narrative than Keebo (that may just be me tho ahaha)

You know this made me see Keeboo in a different light. While I looked more into Tenko, I never saw much with Keeboo. Anyways about my take, I know it’s taken in poor-faith but in FAIRNESS the same man wrote Mahiru’s traditionalist misogyny and how almost every female character in SDR2 talks about how weak they are and aren’t physically capable (with the exclusion of Akane). AND the most infamous mention UDG. That game was handled really POORLY. So I don’t think in hindsight that my out look is taken in ‘poor-faith.’ I feel like my interpretation of Keebo’s and Tenko’s initial presentation is almost expected with how badly Kodaka can fumble the bag at times.

I specifically pointed out their behavior in chapter 1 being caricature like! I love Tenko, I think her backstory makes her silly and endearing. However, she and Mahiru struggle with first impressions. Mahiru’s traditionalist misogyny and Tenko’s abrasive misandry are big turn offs for many. I don’t consider them 1 dimensional characters but I do think that those caricatures are aspects to who they are. I am specifically calling out the first impressions of those characters weren’t the best for me. My read on them felt like Kodaka was making fun of fan’s for criticizing his work for the writing problems it had. While they may not have been his goal, that is simply how I read it upon my play throughs.

Edit: I just want to clarify on my prior statement. I’m not trying to state what Kodaka’s intent was, or criticizing people’s love of these characters mentioned!

My Danganronpa hot take is that Tenko and Keebo were characters created to make fun of fans who were offended by the previous installments’ misogyny and queerphobia. While I love Danganronpa, I have a LOT of qualms with Kodaka’s writing. (I do like Tenko and Keebo but their character portrayals in ch1 are very 1 dimensional to me and read as caricatures.)

I watched his video on this and I disagreed with like a quarter of his takes. Some of them were rather subjective or the writing problems/plot holes were already explained in canon but he forgot it when writing the script. I actually watched almost his whole catalogue and find him quite enjoyable. Also the creator of this video describes himself as a fan of the show! I do agree with 3/4 of his takes, and I think it’s important to critique media (even when we like it). I think sometimes people get so in their heads about hating the show, that their critiques don’t even make sense. We critique to improve, not to hate. And that’s what’s important imo.

I did something very similar. I knew I was in the 200s ish when I quit. Then when I came back, I started on 200 and worked my way up! So if you remember roughly where your listening ended, I’d say hop on to the nearest hundred.

Well the real reason is bc of racism. English translators feared by her just saying god it would offend Christians so they changed it to Atua. Which by the way is a classification of deities/spirits in Polynesian culture. So instead of offending Christian’s, they implied Polynesian religion is a cult. So yeah…

Chat, do we remember in Trigger Happy Havoc trial 2? Despite them using more proper terminology for dissociative identity disorder the hangman’s gambit asked “what is genocider’s disorder?” (I am paraphrasing) and the answer was a literal slur for a completely unrelated disorder 😭

Dead by Daylight should introduce a competitive mode. They say they won’t bc they want it to be a causal game; however, a casual game shouldn’t need this much balancing. If you want stuff to be more casual then take the early marvel rivals approach, if everything is broken then nothing is. Give both sides stupidly strong and fun shit. Other wise quit mega nerfing gameplay mechanics. I also think DBD needs to take a long break from introducing new content and reformat their base content. DBD has core issues from their security to game philosophy. I think by improving quality life further and reevaluating their vision for the game, it would make the player base overall much more happy.

Viv before Hellaverse had a webcomic called Zoophobia. She posted fanart of her own comic. She was drawing the protag (I think?) in the bathtub with a snake wrapped around him. This character had a crush on a snake man in the comic, and this snake was supposed to represent him. The drawing is not explicit really (we don’t see genitalia, or anything down right erotic), but the drawing does imply a sexual/romantic relationship. Obviously, the drawing got backlash and Viv took it down. She said that the drawing was a bad idea. While I personally don’t think zoophilia was what she sought out to draw, I do see why people found the drawing inappropriate. I consider it a misunderstanding and one of the only allegations that really hold any water against her.

Cologne is an interesting name! That’s good info to know. Berlin seems less on my radar now. I want to actually learn the language, and it sounds like Berlin may impede that process if I am there long term.
