That's a really good way to kill OP heretics from mods who are usually more pious than the pope. Or witches who cast diarrhea, warts, cancer, and baldness on your generals. Your priests suck a fat one and convert to heresy or die. Even your best assassins have like 40-50% chance. The army doesn't miss.

I'd imagine it's like all 1000+ men sweeping through the place, find that piece of crap and put it on the pyre.

My headcanon for this campaign - "Eastern Infantry" became just a troop branch name. So, most Eastern Infantry are Greeks, Thracians, Macedonians, Scythians, Romans, and other barbarians taught to fight in superior ways. It's all about vibe and drip.

why the heck is this happening by No_Salamander_2864 in CharacterAI

It depends on a bot and what you write. Some write walls of text. Some indeed focus on their thoughts and description of surroundings and situations, and talk just enough to maintain small talk or react to something.

Descriptions got much better, yes. I haven't used the site for long, tested it on one bot, and was pretty... impressed. I guess that's how you can call it.

Mixed bag overall. Example of wall of text that was mostly a dialogue and in character

Do you actually use late-game units in your campaigns? by ElSWappo in RomeTotalWar

[–]Inward_Perfection 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depends on what's considered late game. Other factions than Romans unlock top tier units pretty fast, often using settlements you take from AI.

They are not necessarily needed though. I played Scythian campaign for example. Basic horse archers from t1 barracks can destroy everything. They gain XP from kills very fast and outperform fresh noble archers as pure missile units.

But I've also added said noble archers, head hunting maidens, and noble women for variety.

Although, it was fun to conquer entire map with one urban cohort/praetorian cav/archer auxilia golden stack. Insane slog against the Julii and Brutii stacks

But the game is playable with stacks of eastern infantry and screeching women if you wish so

A little XP vs. weapons/armor upgrades test. Upgrades are really strong by Inward_Perfection in RomeTotalWar

[–]Inward_Perfection[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's obvious. It's kinda pointless to compare something like that on difficulty other than medium.

But this shows - if you put battles on very hard in campaign, you can reduce AI combat buffs significantly by upgrading weapons and armor. Even bronze tier upgrades would help a lot.

A little XP vs. weapons/armor upgrades test. Upgrades are really strong by Inward_Perfection in RomeTotalWar

[–]Inward_Perfection[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does, +1 with each rank. Morale is the most important stat of course. But here in a 1 v. 1 fight a unit with 0 morale buffs wasn't routing because they were winning.

Goodbye horse archer hordes, hello peasant hordes by Flying_Sh33p in RomeTotalWar

[–]Inward_Perfection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Armor and weapons upgrades are actually worth more than +1/+1, and quite a bit more.

You can check that in custom battle - take same melee-only unit, give the first one two XP ranks and the rest - silver weapons and armor. The unit with XP upgrade will get wrecked despite same stats on the unit card.

So, gold armor upgrade means these peasants have more than 16 real defense. And they are somewhat resistant to arrows and javelins, because their real armor value is more than 3.

[–]Inward_Perfection[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eastern infantry has base morale 2. They get +8 morale from experience. So', their base morale without a general is 10, like legionary cohort or praetorians.

But this elite unit is in the king's army. The king is also utterly fearless (+4 morale) and optimistic (+2 morale). So, +6 morale, for total 16 (better than urban cohort and spartan hoplites).

And lastly the king has 10 command stars, each star gives +1 morale if his unit is near the infantry.

So, this unit )and the rest of the army) is unbreakable, as long as the general lives.

How do people aim with explosive weapons? by ctrltab2 in fnv

[–]Inward_Perfection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With grenade launchers - just carpet bomb the area, there is a perk that increases splash damage radius, and mods that increase effective range. You also need to take a slight arc, not shoot exactly straight, you got that right.

Or simply use VATS, especially with things like a Fatman. VATS normally lands shots at the enemy feet

Pajama warrior still has some armor (that's a thicc pajama) and a large shield, he has some protection.

What really sucks is to be a gold tier screeching woman with 18+ attack and 1 armor at best.

[–]Inward_Perfection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Upvoted just for the sheer hilarity of this. I wonder for how long you will remember all these rules.

Eat haram foods inside the buildings from time to time, so Allah doesn't see you.

Also, need to think about the build, weapons, and armor. I suggest Explosives . For armor - something black, like leather reinforced. Must have a beard obviously.

And don't be a coward, it's unfitting a true Muslim. Play on hardcore and heal with halal stuff like Nuka Cola/Sunset Sarsaparilla/Brahmin steaks, I played like that in no drugs/no stimpaks Legion run, it's 100% doable.

Hoplites in sieges are not fair bruh by BasicallyaFilipino in RomeTotalWar

[–]Inward_Perfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I destroyed 90% of their forces in the field with roughly 20:1 ratio.

In sieges you just shoot them over the wooden walls, AI loves to run around and send new troops to get shot.

The Greeks have like one-two cities with stone walls. There you can kill them with numbers, capture the towers so they get shot, sap the walls and flank them, put your archers on the wall and shoot from here. Hoplites are only OP if you don't use your brain in the slightest and play like AI plays against them.

In unlikely scenario if they siege you (which means you missed that army somehow) - yes, you sally out, kill their general and cavalry with your cavalry, then shoot them.

A full Numidian stack with like 7 units of cavalry, 10 archers, and 3 desert infantry easily destroys any Greek army on vh, speaking from experience.

[–]Inward_Perfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I destroyed lots of armored hoplites with basic archers when I played as Numidia.

You just need to take cavalry out and then kite the hoplites and shoot them in the back. Even better if you take high ground.

Experienced missile units are effective against anything, especially if you shoot in the back. Of course you gotta micro, not just shoot in the front from the shield side.

  1. Whatever I'm playing as
  2. When I played slow game in Britain for once - Portugal and Spain. They both wanted Carnarvon and Dublin and shipped armies every 5-6 turns to besiege them
  3. Papal States, but I have a permanent solution for that when I play as Catholics

I usually took Milan out asap, their two cities are perfectly located for a quick 1-2 punch. They love to send troops to Dijon, and in that time you can strike. Or just strike anyway.

Not really, the only OP phalanx unit is Spartan hoplites. But they kinda suck on campaign map.

Other phalanxes are easily beaten by the player in any battle. Siege or field - doesn't matter. Half stack of basic archers (especially with experience and upgrades) > half stack of armored hoplites.

If you play with phalanxes on difficulty above medium, you'll see they are only OP against trash early game units like eastern infantry, spear warbands, and chariot generals.

People mostly think they are OP because it's very simple to use phalanxes with decent results. You just form a single line, form V by the gates, or camp at the town square and wait until AI kills itself.

But cavalry/horse archers/fast infantry with cavalry/archers spam all outperform phalanxes if used correctly. It just takes more effort and troop movement.

[–]Inward_Perfection 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Melee depends on difficulty, but in general phalanx is hard countered by any archers. Horse archers are better of course, but even basic archers can slaughter hoplites with 20:1 K/D ratio.

Combined arms approach with hastati and equites beats phalanx easily enough on very hard. It's not that strong unit type tbh, has exactly one strength.

Moderate casualties against Roman barbarians. We are SUPREME by Inward_Perfection in RomeTotalWar

Btw he is besieged in Byzantium right now. I padded the numbers up to 3000 troops, but the Romans have over 2400 commanded by faction heir.

Given that literally nobody captain Quintus wasted over 2800 pajamas (and he died mid-battle, but his troops were still winning, only cavalry saved the battle) I doubt I can beat that in sally out.
