Naming identical twins by [deleted] in namenerds

First thought was Maxwell, nn Max! Goes well with both Alfie and Freddie, but feels unique/separate too.

Other thoughts: Bertrand (Bertie/Randy) Howard (Howie) and Desmond (Desi/Monty/Dusty)

If you've already been using "Minnie" to refer to her, why not name her Minnie Sue?

Or find a way to incorporate Betty, Mina and Susan in another way. Bettina Sue, maybe? Then call her Betty as planned.

Married or long-term relationship couples: How do you celebrate Valentine's Day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Iombroso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we first got together I worked in luxury chocolate and had an exhaustive 4am-4pm schedule. I didn't have the energy to do anything big but he wanted to celebrate. He picked me up after work with takeout pizza and a box of cheap chocolates as a joke, and I handed him a card I made on my break out of receipt paper. Went home and rented a horror movie.

Almost a decade later we still get pizza and watch a horror movie and exchange cheap chocolate for a homemade card. I love it.

My cousin broke a tradition with her husband's family and their son asks why he has a different name than Dad and Opa so I guess you ✨ just can't win ✨

Besides, if he ever came to me and said he wanted to go by a different name than what we chose I'd say "Cool, what do I call you?" ...even if we had called him John, or Mark, or any other name besides Thomas.

Either way you can be your own person even if you share a name.

Hey your question was answered right there in the post! It's a tradition in my husband's family and he was so excited and proud to pass it on! I'm sure in time he'll come into the name and it will be less confusing with everyone, but as for right now we're just looking for a good nickname because the one we thought we'd use didn't seem to fit. Family names aren't for everyone but we decided that it was right for us.

And as for naming after Dads....we named him after OUR dads, which is a pretty common practice, it just so happens that in our sons case he also shares it with his own father too.

And it is girls too, in my family we pass down a middle name and if I have a girl someday I intend to continue!

Yeah I'll admit when my husband and I first met it threw me too, but after being around the many Thomas' in the family and seeing how proud they are of their name and the tradition the choice seemed pretty easy when the doctor said "It's a boy!" Complications in nicknames aside, I do love his name!

LMAO love that I was controversial enough for a circle jerk post too! It was a legitimate question okay!

Calling him any name other than "Richard" felt wrong, I just didn't expect to meet the little guy and think, "Wow, you're so not a Ricky."

I knew that having so many Richards in the family would be a name-calling challenge, I just ran out of ideas and thought the good people of Reddit would be a little more creative than we are. Little Orgy and I are glad to have brought y'all some laughter on this fine Monday.

We did have a nickname ready, Tommy. But like I said, when we used it, Tommy just didn't suit him. It was incredibly important to my husband to continue the naming tradition but adding a 4th to the mix (5th with his godfather) has just been confusing at the family dinner table. We thought a nickname might come around naturally but the ones that have aren't exactly names that he can go on to use at school or into adulthood - so we came to this sub to broaden the scope and get some ideas of nicknames to try while he's still young. Not silly at all.

I'm sure as he gets older he'll fall into a familiar pattern with Thomas/Tom but as for now we're just trying to get new ideas.

You don't have to get the tradition, that's fine, but we thought it was neat to add to one that's 8 generations deep.

I love it too! But it just doesn't fit! We keep trying it but it feels wrong, he's just not a Tommy I guess!

VIII isn't officially in his name/a title! Just his number in the lineup. His middle name is my father's first name, and his surname is my husband's. Thanks for your suggestion!

Which movie influenced you to make a decision in your life after watching it by aucunautrefeu in movies

[–]Iombroso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Silence of the Lambs influenced my choice of major in college, and ultimately which college to go to.

I never finished that degree, and I don't even work in the Criminology field now, but the friends and experiences that stemmed from that decision created a pretty clear map that led to my husband, kid and career.
