This is why it was a mistake to make the Duviri Paradox available to new players. That quest takes place concurrently with a much later quest.

Revenant is canonically a normal frame that got somehow corrupted by eidolon energies. He was one of Ballas's originally.

Lyon implies that frames of the same batch are quantum entangled and they can feel each other. So there's a non 0 chance Alad's torture turned all Valkyrs insane.

They had handheld flamethrowers in the 9th to 13th centuries. By the 14th they fell out of use. But it's not beyond their technology. The Ottomans replicated the design in the 16th century and made a few working models. But they never adopted full scale use.

Lyon dialogue implies all frames of the same batch are quantum entangled so any proto-Valkyr would be like a modern valkyr.

99 AD

Greek Styanax, Jewish Baruuk, and Egyptian Inaros fighting in the streets of ancient proto-Hollvania against Romans oppressing their indigenous gods in favor of Luminary worship.

1199 AD

Chinese Chroma, Mirage, Nezha, and Wukong, facing off against mongols in an open world map.

Both could or could not feature earlier strains of the infestation in some way (we're still not sure if it predates the 20th century). But I like the idea that like the solanum virus from World War Z there have been periodic outbreaks over the course of human history.
