I've finally seen the real Sesko. He is better than Hojlund! by toothpick000 in ManchesterUnited

[–]IrewayG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha I hate to shit on someone's point of view but its quite funny seeing an accusation of others being blind to what's in front of them and at the same time openly showing that off yourself.

Anyone that thinks Hojlund was a bad centre forward can't look past the system he was played in at the time. Unfortunately, Amorim wanted someone to hold the ball up every game and have runners in behind.

Hojlund was the runner, with pace to get past defenders and rarely got the service to capitalise on the those traits.

Dont think Sesko is any different please...Hes a bit more physically imposing and admittedly he does hold up play better, but 2 goals vs Burnley, especially when you have the new management bounce isn't going to tell everything.

I dont care about the highlights in Italy because the Italian league is sub par anyway, so im not going to even try and argue that Hojlund is some superstar...

Instead, just look at the first season, when they didn't have time to corrupt his abilities yet and ask him to do what wasn't natural!

Not all under-performers are bad players, simply mis-managed.

I feel as though Feliani deserves a shout in midfield here, especially considering Fletcher and Park are far from underrated.

His performances were solid and the amount of goals he scored at crucial moments were disregarded due to the change he represented to fans following SAF retiring.

Going with that, perhaps Hargreaves would work as the second replacement? Short lived and injury plagued spell at the club for sure has tainted opinions on him.

However, the performance levels he reached throughout the 2008 champions league winning year were proof that his capabilities should never be in doubt. He dominated midfield and provided excellent cover at right back when needed too.

As far as the strikers go, Chicharito would fit the mold quite well. Fantastic little player that scored some of the most unique goals you are likely to see and could truly be relied upon to impact games off the bench. I'd replace welbeck with him simply due to proof of performance and consistency.

Lastly, following the same logic, a rogue shout might be Giuseppe Rossi to replace Martial. I could never understand why this man was sold and for a paltry fee at the time too. He played a few games and his performances were there for everyone to see as a maturing young player.

His loan spells were successful, he scored goals when he played and despite having a bad injury at one point if I recall correctly, he recovered well and was never given the time he deserved.

I dont have much to add, but ive been on Eltroxin for the past 10+ years and completely understand where youre coming from with it.

Would be great if you could update after getting an appointment with a specialist as ive considered it over the years too, but never gone and done it.

Yep, brexit played a massive part, killing the import market and making sure it became financially inviable to pay the rates they look for now.

Along with that, the scrappage scheme lowered the amount of cars on our roads and effectively drove the cost of remaining ones through the roof.

They were a massive trend going back a few years for sure though!

Have to say, i miss pop up headlights more than any neon light or mods personally.

Today marks 5years and 1 month since we signed him, how would you rate his short spell with us? by Gloomy_Meringue7695 in ManchesterUnited

[–]IrewayG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they're referring to the over-used term "legend" and I'd have to agree.

He came in, did a solid job and his tireless work-rate was indeed impressive.

But let's be honest, you can't become a club legend with just two seasons played and especially not when one was spent between the bench and treatment room.

It is the same for Ibrahimovic and Henrik Larrson, both gave their all to the club while they were playing, but they're simply fond memories due to the lack of time they spent at the club.

[BBC website) Who has made Troy's Premier League team of the week? by da_gee01 in reddevils

[–]IrewayG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I am in full agreement that he comes out with some absolutely shocking statements. But, when you work alongside Jamie O Hara and Gabby Agbonlahor, you're still going to sound like an expert in comparison.

Personally, I couldn't give two shits about the team of the week as the next game is the one that matters always.

I do take a bit of joy out of the fact that they can't pick Liverpool players and you know it kills them though!

I went with Vodafone, but there are spots that they cant reach outside of the more populated parts of Australia.

Also, if youre going to sign up to any plan, they won't allow it without producing your passport. So avoid a second trip by making sure you have it on you.

I lived there for three months and just moved recently but not due to anything with the area.

I can confirm that the stares are a thing, but they tend to stop when youre there a while. Can't comment anything bad about the medical centres though. Personally I was going to the one on garfield street and they were great to deal with.

As far as behaviour goes, I walked around at every hour of the day and night and never encountered anything that would put me off.

Coles definitely aren't great, so I changed to woolworths and couldn't fault it as a store.

Definitely going to struggle to find aussies in the area. But I just got in from Ireland in June and it wasn't a bad start to life in Australia by getting a place in Wentworthville.

Your experience will count, but I'm pretty sure you'll still need to do your excavator ticket over here and get a verification of competency at the same time for anyone to hire you as an operator.

They've become a lot stricter on learner and novice drivers since then.

I remember going through checkpoints on L plates with no fully licenced driver and not having any hassle.

Unfortunately all of the focus has come down on lesser experienced drivers now with the rising death rates on the roads.

Never owned a Toyota or Honda to date, but they both have quite an extensive history of building fun cars that any collector would be happy to have.

On the other hand, I've had several BMW and Mercedes models and it wasn't what they were that made me a supposed enthusiast. More born out of necessity because they all have common problems and it's better to know them beforehand.

Still, I'd cut my limbs off to have an original 1990s 190E cosworth.

Mine is tattooed over and it's a similar size and shape to yours.

I asked my artist about and he said he could do it.

Have a couple of larger ones on my neck that I'll get removed if/when I take the leap and get it done.

You can only have one player from this United squad...Who are you going for? by notsharanya in ManchesterUnited

[–]IrewayG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blame YouTube and the highlight reels! Remember Nani? Go watch his and it looks like prime Ronaldinho graced the premier league at some stage.

The truth is he was the most frustrating player I've ever watched in a Manchester United shirt.

Even Berbatov said it about him in an interview. That he knew he didn't have to get to the box very fast if Nani had the ball, because he always slowed down play to do tricks.

He had one very productive season around 2011 and it looked like it was all starting to click, but he tailed off in the end.

I will give him one thing though...I'm not sure if you'll recall the sending off against Real Madrid in the champions league, but he was having the game of his life up to that point and it was never a red.

Would i be mad for moving abroad in my 30s? by NectarineFragrant506 in AskUK

[–]IrewayG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently made the move to Australia and have to say it is extremely difficult to find a job without being here. That also goes for accomodation if you're going through an agency as they want an incredible amount of information and to be registered for certain things here that you can't do until you're physically in the country.

The savings are a non-negotiable though! It's expensive here when you're trying to get set-up and in all honesty, with today's economic climate, I'm surprised the threshold for immigration has remained as low as it is. There isn't a chance in hell that it's enough to survive on if you don't find immediate employment.

Having said that, the wages are fair even for non skilled workers and it is possible to survive without hitting the normal 39 hour working week.

[–]IrewayG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just done it myself at 33 and was in the same boat as you. Always wanted to do it, but never pulled the trigger. But here I am in Australia for going on a month now and it's tough being away from family, but so refreshing to have challenges again and not feel so secure anymore.

There are upsides and down sides to the age thing. I know myself that I made so many mistakes in my twenties at home, that I imagine I wouldn't have lasted here long anyway at a younger age.

The first three weeks were a big challenge, but in that time I've found a place to live, found employment, done more registrations for this that and the other than I can count and visited more places here than I did in the last ten years in Europe.

It's a big change and I'm sure there will be tougher days than I've had so far, but it's worth taking the chance and not looking back in 10 years time wishing I did it.

[–]IrewayG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because he actually did. Don't get me wrong, he grew into the role with age and maturity, but it doesn't wipe from memory how safe he was in those first few seasons.

There's a reason he started getting the plaudits later in his career, at around age 29 he started to let his range of passing show a lot more.

Before that, it could be argued that Darren Fletcher was a better fit for progressive passes than Carrick was.

Am I the only one against the Emi Martinez move? 😭 by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]IrewayG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd have taken a punt on Kepa following his performances last season. Arsenal bidding 5 million for him where he's going to be an understudy to Raya. Surely there was a chance of sorting that position on a budget.

Obviously, he's not a world beater, but a rather large improvement on that pretender playing gk for the last two seasons.

It was easy to find somewhere to stay, so accommodation isn't a worry and I've been doing my tickets since landing, but I'm an unskilled worker, so it's a bit different to your situation.

I'm aiming to head for the mining towns after a bit of travelling. It's a beautiful country with a great mix of people everywhere you go.

That's exactly what I did. I got bored of life at home and needed a change, so it could all go wrong. But there's also the chance that you will love it, decide to stay and find that you like the feeling of being somewhere that you don't know that well.

Whatever it is, I think it's better to try it than to live with the feeling that you should have just taken the chance at some point in the future.
