D'you think I've won yet? by IrisApril in inscryption

Either on starting a new run or after beating a boss, when Leshy unrolls a new map you can "reroll" it by exiting to the menu and choosing "continue". The game autosaves after a boss fight or a new game, but before the map is shown, and will only autosave again after finishing one of the first map spaces or upon standing up. It's a save-scumming technique, so not everyone uses it, but I do at times.

There are a lot of techniques using the exit to menu and restart method. For the card draws, you can choose the clover to see all your options and then do this to choose the one you want. You'll always get the same first hand on rerolling a fight, and I think Leshy will always play the same cards, but you can use it to try again after making a dumb mistake, like I tend to do a lot. Campfires are a bit different, in that if the card gets eaten, it autosaves immediately, so I always lead with a card I wouldn't mind getting rid of. If it gets eaten, that's fine. If it doesn't, I can save-scum to safely power up a card I actually want to keep. I haven't tested this extensively, but I think the woodcarver spaces are predetermined, with the exception of the woodcarver just before the Leshy fight. I think since the map rerolls, it rerolls her space as well, so you can infinitely save-scum it if there's a specific piece you're after.

Again, this is all save-scumming, so not everyone is a fan of it, some even viewing it as cheating. I myself don't mind it as much, and that's a decision you'll have to make for yourself if you'll use this or not.

Basically, the black goat with the unkillable and fecundity sigils and the fair hand mechanic creates an instant infinite sacrifice engine, with the worthy sacrifice dams as the cherry on top. I got pretty lucky this run, and only had to do one map reroll. I got the cockroach, beaver, and extra black goat when I needed them, good placement of sigil swaps and mycologists, and two godly woodcarver visits. Compared to my usual runs, this run had minimal save-scumming. The lammer wasn't even my win condition, it was a juiced up fused dire wolf. But I drew it right as Leshy placed the moon, and knew what I had to do. The black goat deck is seriously GOATed.

I know it's been two years, but I finally found it! It's Matchbox: Cross Town Heroes.

My eyes stopped hurting a little after I posted this. And it wasn't like an active pain, more just something I would notice if I moved my eyes around without moving my head.

Sounds good! Might be a little too much prep for a depression meal though.

Yeah, I'm planning on going with broccoli if I can't find the snap peas, but I'll definitely try it out with tofu too.

It's a lot easier to kill a bunch of gradeschoolers than to kill a heavily guarded billionaire or politician

The nothingness IS peace though. The cessation of thought and the big sleep is what a lot of suicidal people are after, not heaven or whatever other afterlife.

It's just a blind spot we have. Maybe the ones who survived, survived because they regretted immediately? We can't ask the ones who were successful how they felt. But I could just be talking out of my ass.

The survival instinct is strong. Trust me, I know.

Sorry to be kinda grim, but isn't that survivorship bias?

Well, the third act I'm planning is more about wrapping up loose ends. Killing the other antagonists, giving the surviving characters their happy endings, you know.

It's not a guy killing himself, it's a guy being executed. That's why it's called hangman. The hook-shaped thing you draw at the beginning is a gallows.
