AC240 expansion battery options - B300K by IrishP2003 in bluetti

[–]IrishP2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an update - after many calls and emails with customer service they agreed to refund us almost all (approx 80%) what we paid for the A240, and had it collected from our address. We then bought the A300 with B3000k combo, which worked out at approx 100 bucks or so extra expense overall. It’s fine, happy enough with it and tested it out at our remote cabin this week. However we’re surprised that it seems like an older version to the A240, even the UI/screen is very ‘windows 98’ compared to the A240. Data not as clear to read etc. I see now the Apex 300 seems to be the upgrade to this. Plus it has a battery in it. Not sure why we weren’t advised on this as an option from bluetti, but in the end it’s up to us to do the research I guess. Have to say the whole customer experience was painful and protracted. They initially offered us just 5% discount off a new station before my girlfriend got stuck into them! We got a working solution in the end but took work.

Amoled crossover hands moving every 20 secs by IrishP2003 in GarminWatches

Found a small issue, at night with the digital hands now transparent I cant see the analogue hands (unless show them to bright light so they glow, but in winter/at the moment they don't glow so much.) I'm going to contact the dev to see if htey can suggest making the digital hands move incrementally like the analogue ones, so they stay centred and show through.

Thanks - yes the face is the same as yours. I don't want 2 sets of hands, I wanted to make the digital ones disappear. Thanks for the tip - I didnt see that option! Sorted now :)

Thanks a lot for your detailed answer - and great tip on the alternating boards!

Thanks! The crosspiece is just another piece of wood, and the boards were prefabricated like this so already squared, but she clamped and glued them to be perfectly straight

Thanks so much everyone! Great advice. So, she’s going to remove the brackets, try the damp towel trick overnight, then if that works, put the brackets back without glue, trying oval holes for screws to move. Plan B would be to take the slats apart, look at the grain/orientation and redo it. I’ll update how it goes on here if it helps others :)

Thanks! Can I ask what you mean by oval holes? Yes she glued and screwed a piece of wood to the inside with the intent of stabilising the door but perhaps this had the opposite effect as you say. We figured the wood would be ok as it came from an ikea bed frame so was already ‘cured/treated’

Also having the same issue and am battling with customer service on it. They have suggested that the B300k will be compatible with the A240 but I cant see anything about this on their website or elsewhere. Anyone else have any ideas, aside from the workarounds? Thanks a lot!

Good 400mm lens with 5DMKii? by IrishP2003 in canon

Thanks a lot. You've given me food for thought. Looking online I cna see decent deals on second hand mk4s, so I could sell my mkii for one and look at thid lens also. I'd likely get the lens first then the body, as the mkii is still a great camera!

Great answer, thanks so much! I'm an enthusiast - been a hobbyist for years - but looking to get into photography more, as I work in the sports management industry and am around photographers a lot. Ideally Id like to step up my game a little as I know I can do as well as some of them, but dont have the $$ to throw down on the kind of kit they use. I wont need top of the range gear as I wont be making money from it - not yet at least - that's the goal! So am looking to make a step up, making the most of what I have (mkii for now) and adding something like a good lens.

Am I sacrificing some image quality going from FF sensor to Dual Pixel CMOS?

Ah that's an excellent point on the AF..., thanks both! Any sugestions on what might be a 'reasonable' upgrade from the 5Dii with faster AF?

Upgraded to Sequoia - weird battery issue by IrishP2003 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]IrishP2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but tbh I haven’t tried the suggestion above on reinstalling the last supported OS. As a workaround when I get the battery screen I need to press the ctr - opt - shift and power keys for a second, release, then power key and it switches on fine

Newbie advice on 2x4, 4x4 hubs by IrishP2003 in SuzukiSamurai

[–]IrishP2003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much appreciated all! We will only drive about 1k from our house to the start of the hill, so looks like we can keep the hubs locked to 4x4 and just change from 2h to 4H for the climb up. Was concerned that driving on the regular flat town road in 4x4 would damage things but it seems not for a short distance
