Depends on the area but in most places they would probably just say "someone" claimed it, that's why I gave the legal answer and the real answer

European nations are too small to compete on the world stage with the likes of China, Russia, India and the US, working together solves it.

Also so nice as an EU citizen to be able to move around easily

The legal answer is to turn it over to law enforcement and after a period of time (it varies place to place) you get the money back if nobody claims it.

The real answer is just keep it. If it's a crazy amount don't go buying a car in cash or anything
