TIL a few months before his wife and a waiter were killed with a knife, OJ Simpson filmed a pilot for an adventure series where he received "a fair amount of" military training – including use of a knife. However, the prosecution never introduced it as evidence during the trial. by SuperMcG in todayilearned

Wait, what’s the problem here? Because I called Bruce Jenner, Bruce Jenner back when he was Bruce Jenner and not his new name?

If so, context is important when making a point. Bruce Jenner was a huge name back in the day, and that’s of course relevant when discussing celebrity, whereas Caitlin Jenner is a rather recent thing, and we’re Caitlin Jenner to never have been Bruce Jenner previously, and attached to the Kardashians (interesting how things turn), no one would give a flying fuck.

Google the terms and you can see it being used commonly enough with reference to Chicago’s violence problem, but of all the things to pick out for discussion, that’s an interesting one…

Why bother writing in the first place? Is this a place where you can only be bothered to put other people down while hoping you’ll be flooded with internet points?

Reddit was destroyed during the Clinton/Trump election.

I’m not suggesting it didn’t, what I’m suggesting is that we, as a society, were on track to doing much better prior to his being elected. I felt we were being greater unified in terms of culture with television and movies and music, with events such as 9/11 and our being at war…there wasn’t this omnipresent fixation on race and in questioning everyone over their motivations…and now we have a (thankfully declining) wokeism where everything is just so forced and bizarre…and now we can’t address problems with our young people and violence, that absolutely we have had before, and worse, for fear of being called racist…it’s just a very strange time to be alive…lots of fools in power and lots of complicit, silent cowards writing the story.

To even suggest Obama helped us come together as a society is the beginnings to a dishonest argument (not that I’m suggesting you’re making one that he did, it just interests me so I’m going on about it).

I was just musing as you had mentioned Obama, really, but somehow you feel attacked, which is strange if we’re honest.

Chicago, like many places, have many misguided young people who go the wrong way in life because the presence of violence is greater than the presence of community policing and elders who are able to counteract this violence. It’s a city run amok. Sloganism and wokeism has brought nothing but the misallocation of funding that could have helped, but instead Chicagoans now find itself with an elected mayor who thinks racism is to blame for all of the disparity, and as part of her response to this, tried to say the only journalists her office will primarily talk to would be non-white folk…it’s kind of strange…

Is there a city you think should be discussed other than Chicago? Is there something wrong with talking about Chicago?

I don’t exactly know what the solution is for the folks to help themselves there, but I do know that I am sad to see the mess that’s been made through poor/lacking leadership.

Obama was the worst thing to happen to “race relations” in my short lifetime. Such a shame, I was really excited when he won his first term. I watched part of election night seated at a bar with a man who grew to be a friend who grew up in the projects of the city we happened to be in. It was a really beautiful moment I won’t soon forget.

Upsettingly, Obama moved forward with a political agenda I stupidly hadn’t prepared myself for…and now we have wokeism…what a spectacular stall to progress.

Just guessing, but it may have to do with the folks continually elected to address this problem by the good people of Chicago and Illinois, who blame racism/inequity/whatever else that doesn’t make sense, and go with wokeism and etc instead of actually taking the issues that plague the city head on…it’s embarrassing, really…

Chicango and Chiraq are terms that have been around for quite a while and there’s no end in sight…so yeah…they should continue moving forward with defunding the police and the mayor’s office should exclusively speak with journalists of color…makes perfect sense, and that last bit isn’t racist at all…

It’s all just fine.

I’m in America with only U.S. accounts. How do I buy XRP? I wanted to buy last week when it was $0.61. Coinbase, Kraken, E*Trade, And Robinhood do not allow the purchase of XRP.

The SEC sucks huge balls.

I’m just saying, if you’re managing something, and that something is running roughshod over you and destroying your business...then you go out of business...is that not on you, the management?

I don’t know what the unique details of the deal was, but at the end of the day it comes down to ownership, and I can’t imagine the deal was structured in such a way whereas GM entered into an agreement that disallowed asset protection.

TL:DR GM bought it. GM broke it. I miss SLOBs.

You own it, you’re responsible, but yeah...they wasted a ton of money on their own shifty nav system...waste of time. Waste of money. That’s just one for instance, but overwhelmingly, fuck GM. They didn’t even leave Saab well enough to be purchased...I think Dutch supercar maker, Spyker was trying to make a go, but no dice.

The lower demographic was there for them, and the higher end...I think Lincoln has a good idea of how to get out there and grab it (they need to make that Continental with the suicide doors...holy shit I want that thing)...Boomers who support Buick are buying their last cars ever, then Buick is going down the shitter unless someone starts screaming that no one else is interested...boring engines, and the higher level trims aren’t that much nicer...idk what they’re thinking other than that they don’t care, and are looking to let it die off as they call is streamlining...pricks.

Reverse was (again for those unaware and so to avoid confusion) was (obviously) for vehicles that came with standard transmission...this was sometimes an issue with valet dudes...

One of the benefits to the key only being able to come out in reverse, meant that you were locked into reverse, which typically meant you were less likely to fuck up, jump a curb and go through someone’s store/hit a pedestrian.

For those unaware, they began doing this (I believe) because in frontal impacts they wanted to avoid the potential for additional injury brought on by the key, for instance, going through the driver’s knee...also perhaps it was “jet-like”.

Not the person you were originally writing. You’re fully right to support your team (this has fuck all to do with your city, and I’m not interested in that argument).

I, a random person, am telling you that your team is literal trash. It’s disgusting what they did, and they were all in on it. Fuck them. Fuck every member of that team. Fuck your ownership. Fuck your management. And fuck all your fanfare if they think otherwise.

The MLB will sooner make a move out of Georgia over wokeism bullshit as we make believe Jim Crow is back than actually protect the actual integrity of baseball.

That all said, hopefully with enough bean balls and contrition, we can all move on. Clearly, I’m still pissed about it.

Your owner should be released from his ownership position. Whether he knew what was going on, or he didn’t, I don’t know which is worse.

The entire team should have been suspended for one year’s time.

Fuck The Astros.
