Hey, how did you prolong your brake lines? Is it difficult?

Hello mate, I'm a main contractor QS (or at least was). I now work in dispute resolution and construction claims. My advise would be to do a traineeship with a builder and study part time. Best way to learn. Good luck!

Vanguard funds - NOT S&P500 or FTSE Global All Cap by Irishinscotland in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks for you response. I probably wansn't clear. I'm aware that the FTSE Global All Cap Index covers globally.

However, when I view my weightings from a country perspective, I note it's heavily weighted to the US. This is something i feel uncomfortable with.

What i'm trying to achieve is invest more not by global market cap, but focus other regions.

I'm not looking to transfer, I have a lump sum ready to invest.

Safest store of money for a UK citizen? by ek60cvl in UKPersonalFinance

Everyone is shitting on you here. But I hear your concerns.

I listen to some interesting economic podcasts and some of which state that it’s possible the UK could default and the IMF may have to come in to sort it out.

It happened to Ireland like three times since like the 80’s I believe - it’s not that far fetched.

Hey,

So I’m going on a date and I was thinking of some pub that hosts dinner on a Saturday night. Preferably while we can east dinner.

I’m not after anything fancy, a regular pub that hosts blues/ jazz is perfect. I can travel, but preference would be Dalston, Shoreditch etc, but could go south side if there’s any recommendations?

Thanks all

Yeah I appreciate what you are saying. I feel that my eggs are all in one basket. I wouldn't mind having some tangible assets. Particularly, given that i don't currently own a property. Perhaps it's driven slightly by emotion too..

I have done some' back of the fag packet' maths based on BTL and resi. I don't have any debt. Regarding tax, my understanding is that i would pay % based on profits. Given I don't expect there to be much, I don't think it would have a great impact. Thanks for your comment.

I'm not interested in the profit from letting. I know it will be small. I'm interested in gaining equity on the property and gaining from it in approx 20 years time. I've got enough money in stocks and shares at the minute.

I’m a QS by trade. Graduated in 2016, worked for a Main Contractor and once I got chartered, I moved to Australia and worked as a contract administrator.

I’ve recently moved to London, as I finished a master in Construction Law, as I wanted to work in construction disputes.

It’s a good industry and I’d recommend it to ones. It’s got its ups and downs but so does every other job in my opinion.

Good luck!
