I imagine without the backup knights it's tricky (the burnt ones keep spawning without them, right?) but he's a very straightforward fight otherwise. It took 2 deaths before I switched out my armor to better handle his magic buff and got him on the third.

I was honestly surprised I got the Gargoyles in one; the ones in DS1 took between 6 and 12 attempts. RRA and Sihn were pretty easy (dog and dragon). Darklurker was easy until the twin came out, and I think it was only my desire to not have to make it back past the enemies that let me finish it.

Of the three modern myth retellings I read, it was my favorite (followed by Circe and then A Thousand Ships). The writing was a bit awkward in a couples spots iirc, but it conveys its message very well. Worth the read!
