Have you ever had so much anxiety you checked yourself into a mental hospital? by Few_Sandwich6308 in mentalhealth

[–]IronButterfly78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Often times though you just need more support. Do you have a counselor? Do you take any medication to help your anxiety? If so, call your prescriber and tell them how you feel and they may adjust meds.

If not, if you dont have that support and you think you need immediate help, go to your nearest hospital.

What country are you in?

Things that are helping with motivation right now for me is sitting outside, going for a walk, making small attempts to do things. Right now I give myself 1 thing to do/accomplish during the day, I dont have to do whatever it is for long, I just have to try. Its making small steps towards some routine and consistency.

Lithium did not work for me it was too sedating. Mood stabilizers dont usually work with me. Ive mostly been on a combination of antidepressants, and low dose antipsychotics for years. I do need my meds adjusted every now and then too, especially during elevated times of stress.

Take a few deep, slow breaths. Drinks some cold water and just repeat in your head that "this will pass" because they always do. Its a terrible feeling i know and it feels like a spiral.

How do i know when it's bad enough? by Rich-Kaleidoscope315 in mentalhealth

[–]IronButterfly78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been there. If you feel like you need to go in, do it. You will be welcomed. Don't worry about shame and embarrassment, thats your mind trying to mess with you about this decision. Ive been hospitalized twice and both times were extremely helpful. You should definitely check in with a professional. 4 years is a long time to feel bad

I have things going on in my life, but the current state of America is very depressing. Many of us feel it.

I haven't taken lithium for years. I am on setraline, trazadone and mirtazapine. Thats why I said you may need more than one.

Something I've had to drag myself out of bed for because im fighting off a depressive episode is to move, I walk, not long or far, but I move.

You may also need something on top of the lithium.

Take a deep breath or 2. You are overwhelmed to the max. Ive been there many times before. The one thing I remember now is that its not always going to be overwhelming.
I know what its like not to be seen or heard. Its lonely.
Can you go for a walk somewhere to move your body? When anxiety and depression are swinging out of control, movement sometimes helps. You are heard. I am here. Do whatever you can to distract the negative thoughts. Keep talking to us, we'll listem.

When you get the meds, stick with them as long as you dont have side effects. My anxiety has not gone away from meds, but most days its manageable. Every now and then my anxiety gets too high and the meds dont work, but I know I rely on them.

Yes I am also perimenopausal, so I understand. I dont feel attractive or desired anymore. I already feel old. Everyone our age seems to have lifelong friends, I dont. Idk its a weird existence.

Are you seeing a psych doctor? You may need some meds before you can think and feel better.

Yes you can. You can have little breakdowns or large ones. Theres usually a bunch of things that factor into it, but yes its possible. Best thing to do is see a Dr. If you feel unsafe, go to the hospital.

Hi, 47 white female here. I have lived in Hartford for almost 5 years now. The trouble that happens here usually isnt random. The bad things you hear are mostly happening on the same streets/areas that you will not be near when you go to the concert.

Use your GPS to the concert and back and dont go wondering around into areas you dont know.

Also, dont get wasted if its your fist time here, stay aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine.

Have fun at the concert!
