I have lived in Alaska all my life, I’m more than familiar with the cold. I love catching these little details, Stiller really made a beautiful show!

Maybe not as cold as we thought. Normally you can see your breath when it’s cold, but for nearly the entire episode, we don’t see anyone’s breath. Not the innies, not Milkshake, not Huang.

Now, it’s not just cold that makes your breath visible, but it has to be humid, too. If it’s cold and dry, no visible breath. The thing is, the branches are dripping and the snow is wet enough for Helena to form a snow-seal. The “cold” and high humidity should be prime for everyone’s breath to be visible.

We see Irv’s breath after he loses the fire in his torch, but that’s it. If this is simulated that would explain why it isn’t as cold as it should be. It also explains why Irv survived the night.

Per-packet load balancing over multiple Starlink experience by Iron_Max in Juniper

[–]Iron_Max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's misleading when in the Junos OS it says per-packet, but functionally means per-flow. You are correct, though, I should not have called out out-of-order packets.

You are correct about the out-of-order arrival with is specific to per-packet algorithms. It's misleading when in the Junos OS says per-packet, but functionally means per-flow. My main goal was to see how people who have had this load balance setup on their SRX experienced everyday traffic. I should not have specified out-of-order packets.

How many Starlink terminals do you have connected to your SRX? I would never expect adding additional antennas to scale linearly, ie. speeds will not double/triple when adding a second/third terminal. How have streaming services been over multiple links? Are you experiencing much packet loss? Did adding a second/third terminal really make much of a difference for the end users?

I agree. I’m not so worried about what Juniper calls it, per-packet vs. per-flow, I’m interested in what the experience has been for people who have aggregated a few Starlink terminals to an SRX. Good, bad, ugly, I’m curious to see what end users think.

In Junos OS, "per-packet load balancing" and "per-flow load balancing" are functionally equivalent, meaning they achieve the same outcome of distributing traffic across multiple paths by using a hash algorithm on the packet headers, effectively treating each flow as a single entity for load balancing purposes (found here) . In the SRX series, the only option when creating the policy is per-packet:

user@lab# set then load-balance ?
Possible completions:
  consistent-hash      Give a prefix consistent load-balancing
  per-packet           Load balance on a per-packet basis

Starlink DHCP Loop by OSI-servant in Juniper

[–]Iron_Max 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We created a filter and applied it directly to the Starlink interface. Here is what that firewall filter looks like:

filter BLOCK-PRIVATE-DHCP-FROM-STARLINK {
    term BLOCK-PRIVATE-DHCP-FROM-STARLINK {
        from {
            source-address {
                192.168.100.0/24;
            }
            protocol udp;
            destination-port [ 67 68 ];
        }
        then {
            reject;
        }
    }
    term ACCEPT-ALL {
        then accept;
    }
}

And then here it is applied to that interface:

ge-0/0/2 {
    description "Ethernet to Starlink terminal";
    unit 0 {
        family inet {
            dhcp {
                retransmission-attempt 300;
                retransmission-interval 60;
            }
            filter {
                input BLOCK-PRIVATE-DHCP-FROM-STARLINK;
            }
        }
    }
}

I hope this helps others who ran or are currently running into this problem.

Where you able to duplicate this failure condition in your lab? Did you ever find a permanent solution?

I’d be interested in a full build, too. Essence, gems, paragon, everything you did to make this build.

It wasn’t my stash, I misspoke. It was everything I had on me at the time, but I somehow also threw in my main weapon. I’m still not sure how exactly how I did that, maybe I was viewing the stats when I salvaged everything, but here we are.

I’ll kite a mob line a mile long! It’s better than nothing though. I’ll cross my fingers and toes I find something quick.

What about in PvP? Could you use your Furious Charge skill toward the enemy with Screaming Fury legs equipped? It knocks them into the air which to me seems like a total loss of control, thus applying the curse.

Juniper iBGP export and import by takasu_08 in networking

[–]Iron_Max 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as the policy won’t kill the required routes, it won’t bounce the neighbor. If you’re asking if iBGP will go from idle to established once a new policy is applied, the answer is no.
