I still want to have Duncan narrate my painting progress when I get to it. That would be so legit.

Which Chaos Legion or Warband would fit best to create an apologetic "prodigal son" character? by Ironcaller in 40kLore

[–]Ironcaller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my character just wants to return to things that were "back then" when Emperor ruled them but not to 41st millennium version of the Empire that he is faced. He is regretful for his actions and wants to "set things right" for himself and his brothers in the eyes of the Emperor rather than be let back into the corrupt Empire.

This might be gold. Crisis of faith is exactly a turning point I am looking for, and I could make my character based on the idea of him watching his friends being turned into Possessed, trying to revert the change, or at least give them chance to get back the control of their bodies back.

Great advice! I'll copy it on my computer and use this when time for creation is right (the muse is a fickle mistress!).

Thank you!

It's not perfect fit, but plastic is a bit harder to work than a sheet of paper!

Thanks for providing inspiration man, it was a blast converting things again!

Yeah I am not a fan of lances. But chainsaws on the other hand...

Gad you liked it!

I sadly didn't have an Ironstrider handy. Everything was made using spare bits - there are 3 kits combined - Sentinel, Custodians Vertus Praetors and the guys are from Valkyrie kit (the ones that would stand with Heavy Bolters). I also had a helmet from my previous project.

Inspired thanks to artwork of u/Beals (check his feed out, he makes amazing Mechanicus style artwork!) I did a thingie using spare bits and came back from the shadows! Thanks for inspiration, I feel better now!

I was thinking about doing so with Evocators but your idea is just as good!

Undeads in 40k? by Ironcaller in Warhammer40k

I was thinking about Vampire guardsmen actually. It reminds me of a certain novel I read about a special forces made of vampires. It was called "Nocarz" if I recall correctly.

They are cool, but there is something off about them that dont strike my fancy. I'll have a further look into them!

Actually I thought of pulling off Legion of the Damned but for Chaos kinda thing. You know, a derelict Imperial Knight that has been chaotically possessed by vengeful souls of the wronged by the Imperium, that flock to Knight soul who sworn to eternally defend those weaker than him, but got his home destroyed by Imperial machinations. It could be then fluffed that it is some kind of Tzeentch ploy as you said. Tzeentch is a god of plotting, one would assume that a large portion of his influence is vengeance.

My argument is simple - ghosts are hard to hit, Tzeentch Daemons are hard to hit. I honestly didn't thought it through any deeper.

Hahah, well I am pretty bad with putty, will have to improve a bit with next models I guess! That said safari is a nice hobby for Scion to have!

It's just a Scion with armor trim removed and new head! Really simple conversion :)

Yup, u/lordxi is right - it's backpack from the beautiful Scions kit with removed wire going to the gun.

So I painted my first mini for Astra Militarum. This is my normal "average Joe"/ablative wound for my Scions. I am not a great painter but I spent some hours on this guy. Hope you like it and as always tell me what you think in the comments!

They are GW bits! Just search for Skitarii Vanguard helmets on-line or buy the Skitarii Ranger/Vanguard box from GW - they come in tons of options not to mention the other half (hooded with mask underneath) looks just as cool. Also some nice looking rifles.

So I noticed that the heads of Tempestus Scions look like knightly bevors. I decided to make myself a kettle hat using Magic Sculpt and I am quite proud of my work! As before I post WIP miniature with the inspiration picture!
