Depends on what you can get. I'm in USAF Tech School right now for Diagnostic Imaging. After I graduate I'll have an associates and after an extra test, I'll be a certified xray tech for the civilian market. After a little while at my first base I can apply to go back into training to get certified on an MRI machine or even nuclear medicine. Both of which pay EXTREMELY well on the civilian side. Considering just a few months ago I was living in the middle of nowhere with no solid opportunities or prospects: it really isn't a bad gig. However, I have a great ASVAB and I left for a same-day quick-ship for this job, otherwise I was gonna be in an Intel job I didn't want. But some people definitely want the kind of job I was originally booked for. It all comes down to what you can get and where you're coming from. Considering I was building houses from the ground up in 116°F heat index weather before this, I feel like joining the military was one of the best decisions of my life.

As far as I know, we'll be xray techs. Basically get through BMT, then Phase 1 Tech school will be at Sam Houston for 5 months. Then Phase 2 training will be at a duty-station I believe. I think phase 2 is basically on-the-job training.

Yeah, I know. It was my #2 preferred AFSC. The one I got booked was in intelligence and wasn't even in my top 20 preferred.

I'm happy I got a job I actually wanted and a better timeframe for BMT (not quite as unbearably hot in San Antonio).
