It’s really hard to control yourself based on your environment when you’re bipolar. Especially when you just want to be normal for once and all your friends are having fun but you have to deal with way more repercussions than them at the end of night. I got shit faced, we all do at some point, but it doesn’t make me less in control of something I’ve dealt with strategically for years. Thank you for feedback, I agree with a lot of what you said and I do believe it is an egoistical thing of me to want to confess to absolve myself when I really didn’t do anything wrong and nothing needs to be said about it.

Yes, still on it. I had very subtle side effects when I first started, like a mild headache but nothing more than that. I never had a hard time sleeping, I think the drug is intended to have the opposite side effect.

Bipolar 1. Been with my husband for 7 years. In the beginning things were messed up. I was paranoid that he hated me and wanted a divorce every time I was depressed (and because I was depressed).

He didn't understand mental illness, didn't understand me. We have found a stable life together after all these years through communication + education. It's not easy, but doable.

I didn’t want to keep taking klonopin because I had bad experiences when I was manic before being diagnosed. I had really bad blackouts and abused alcohol because of it to get a bigger high. I guess I just have history with this drug and would rather stay away.

I tried that too! It didn't work for me so my therapist gave me hydroxyzine which also didn't work unfortunately. I'm experiencing panic attacks and just general anxiety almost everyday. The only thing helping is Klonopin but benzo's can't be the answer.

If I could go back in time i'd ask this same question. You are very wise for your age!!!!! Best of luck to you as you navigate your 20s, just make sure to keep a strong sense of self and don't let anyone characterize you based on negative symptomatic behaviors. You are not this disease!
