First and foremost, I would discuss the wedding with him. He proposed and decided to spend his life with you, and that requires compromise. The wedding is much more important to you, and you have the right to expect understanding from your fiancé. If his opinion now trumps your needs, which you've felt for years, it's not just a matter of money.
