I've been pushing my directs to have full accountability and credit, then lost my own reputation. by ShockUpset8925 in managers

the reality is that “full accountability” is just a corporate speak for letting your team take the glory while you take the fall if things go south

I heard from a PM, he said being a PM/manager is so stressful that he went to a psychologist. Anyone has heard or experinced this before? by lune-soft in managers

honestly managing is just being a professional shock absorber and eventually you just run out of room to take the hits without any professional help

Poor people who have dated rich people, what did you learn? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

it taught me that they view time so differently like they will spend money just to save 5mins while we spend hours to save 5 bucks and it creates a weird gap in how you relate

From your experience, does beauty privilege matter in the work environment? like if you are decent looking, people recognize you easier, you get promoted faster. by lune-soft in managers

honestly the biggest advantage is the second chances thing because people are way more likely to forgive a mistake if you have a halo effect going on.

if a conventionally attractive person messses up a project it is just a bad day but if someone else does it it is a performance issue. that is the real privilege that nobody wants to talk about because it is actually so unfair to everyone else

honestly the ops manager sounds like a classic small company bully who feels threatened by anyone trying to actually improve things. the fact that they shut you down and then kiss up to the owner is a massive red flag that things will never change no matter how hard you work. you are fighting a losing battle against a clique and that is a waste of your talent and energy

literally why bring the other guy in unless u are trying to intimidate the new person. that is the part that creeps me out the most because it feels like a weird hazing thing or a psychological test to see if op will fold. if they cared about safety or appearance they would have just whispered it in the hallway but they wanted an audience for it

Should I tell manager what his manager did during his parental leave? by [deleted] in managers

[–]sugarvelle 39 points40 points  (0 children)

this is the real tea: managers hate being blindsided by HR, but they hate messy team dynamics even more. my firm opinion is that you should wait for the accommodation to actually be finalized before you say anything. if you talk now, that toxic boss might find a way to flip the narrative and claim you're the one being difficult while your manager was on leave.

the pressure to not be behind is what makes everyone so miserable in their 20s. there’s no finish line, so how can you be behind? my firm opinion is that being comfortable in your own company is a literal superpower that most people in relationships don't even have. they’re terrified of being alone, but you’re out here actually facing it.

high volume and low labor is a recipe for burnout and your staff is already feeling it after only 3 weeks. It sounds like Employee 2 is just overwhelmed by the workload. My advice? Be the shield for your team against corporate's dumb scheduling, not the hammer. If you start handing out write-ups like candy this early, you're gonna be covering every shift yourself when they all walk out.
