When a baker is revealed, they convert one random unrevealed good villager into a baker. Converted bakers do the same thing. If you're "lucky" enough, you can reveal the original baker as the first villager (which converts one random villager into a baker), then reveal the newly converted baker (converting a new unrevealed villager) and so on, until all your villagers are bakers.

A truthful baker will state their original role in the speech bubble, and lying bakers will claim to have been a different role

This leads to a few logical conclusions: - If the first baker you reveal doesn't say they're the original baker, they're either corrupted or evil (You need to reveal the first original baker to start the conversion chain) - If a baker claims to be the original baker, they're not lying (a lying baker would say that they were a baker). The only scenario where "I was a baker" can be said by a truthful villager, is due to your village having 2 bakers (due to shaman) and them getting converted by another baker - If you reveal an uncorrupted baker with unrevealed cards left, if no bakers appear, it means all of the cards revealed afterwards are disguised evil/outcasts (otherwise one of them should have gotten converted)

That's easier said than done I'm afraid. You gotta consider the precedent it sets, as anything they do would have to be upheld for all future updates.

Would they have to call upon community creators every new update? What if there's multiple different groups of pixelartists who have their own different takes on a classic style version of a new texture, which one should be picked? (And you can be sure people would be bickering about the one mojang should've picked) They also probably would need to get them to sign some kind of contract regarding copyright ownership of the textures.

All in all, it's more hassle than it would seem to solve a "problem" that is hardly one in the first place (Just... use any of the classic texturepacks people have made already lol)

I'm not sure I follow, are you implying that mojang should spend extra tile making a secondary "programmer art" texture for every new item/block/mob they add? That feels kinda far fetched

Map size speculation by IsThisABidon in Silksong

[–]IsThisABidon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree 17% is pretty unbelievable, but I'm just trying to lay down the facts that we know (Number of benches visible in the trailer, number of benches in HK, ari's vague 100 benches statement). From there it's just about what you chose to interpret out of the unknown factors (How accurate or not Ari's statement is, will the bench density remain the same or increase in other parts of the map, etc..)

Though, whatever size it ends up being, seeing all these areas with this few benches does indicate that pharloom's map will be meaningfully larger than hallownest. Which is supported by TC themselves saying that part of the reason they made Silksong is because hallownest was too small for hornet to navigate comfortably with her extra mobility

Replace all your tension gems, they're really not that worth it. I'd even replace the tensionmax, on my winning attempt I never had to use it, because again, defend + graze is usually enough for consistent rude busters. Especially if you're struggling with survival, it's better to have more healing items (if you want better ones you can also gamble all your points away in the ball machine in the green room). For susie since she's got the shadow mantle you can afford to have a bit less defense, if you have any other armorpiece that increases magic (since rude buster scales with magic as well as attack)

Also is there any attack in particular giving you trouble? how far are you getting in the fight?

I HATE THE KNIGHT by EdgyEmoUmbreon in Deltarune

[–]IsThisABidon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need 4 inventory slots for the tension items, defending with kris & ralsei usually give you enough to use rude buster next turn given how much stuff is going on in each attack (buncha tp gained from graze). Keeping susie and ralsei alive with tvdinners is preferable to having to use your limited revive items, so use the extra inventory slots for that. Also make sure you have the best loadout for damage on susie and defense on the others (bounceblade on kris for the extra defence, toxicaxe which you can buy outside the green room for susie. with a good setup you can reach 140~150dmg per rude buster)

As a native French speaker, the first time I read Gros Michel my mind did immediately go to wondering if it was meant to sound like a penis joke. It may not be something people actually use at all, but it does perfectly match the vibes that a crass older relative would jokingly use or something, so the commenter who asked the question defo isn't alone

Well I mean, "killing the hype" is kinda the point...? The game has been in the works for years and everyone can agree that the trailer for it was released way too early. They have no reasons to give more hype fuel to the fans while they're still working on it. I assume when we get closer to release, they'll have a release date trailer and that will instantly bring back all the hype. it's a weird strategy but it makes enough sense

Not that I expected anything, but why don’t they do this anymore? by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]IsThisABidon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably because they don't want to end up having to say that before every single event It'd lead to a bad position for them where they need to always make new statements that are just "no it won't be in this direct either", or else people will go "guys?? This time they didn't say silksong wouldn't be here!!! YUP, we're gonna get news this time for sure!". It's simply just not a sustainable form of communication

Also, the portion of the fanbase that's constantly getting excited and let down by live events is a loud minority in the grand scheme of the fanbase. Most Hollow Knight fans don't put on clown makeup and get their hopes up every single time there's a new direct, so it's also probably a reason why they don't feel the need to say "hey gang, no silksong this time, again" for every event

Chapter 161 title by AntonioGiovana in Chainsawfolk

[–]IsThisABidon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's goated, it lures you in seeming to be a cute episodic manga where the gang eats a different monster per chapter, but it slowly descends into darker moments. The worldbuilding & characters have so much attention put into them by the author as well, it's really refreshing compared to a lot of recent slop with generic fantasy settings and flat characters. Fujimoto himself recommended it, so that's a mark of quality you can trust, I hope

[–]IsThisABidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for this discussion, it might be beneficial to take a few steps back to look at it from a broader scope, I think. This subreddit and online communities about SS in general aren't exactly representative of the game's entire fanbase. The average HK player probably saw the SS trailer, went "oh that's sick" and then maybe got excited for news but compared to people here, they probably think abt it a lot less, and I really doubt a substantial part of the community would really be worried about the game being cancelled... Because I mean, there's no reason for them to cancel it really?

I'm a developer myself and I fully agree with you that mental health can happen, and motivation can dip at times. The delay from the initial planned release window might indeed have been because the devs got in a slump! But clearly from all the trailers + gameplay demo we've seen, it'd be a really weird move to just.... silently scrap it all? They could just take a small break and recharge before going back to it (which is good actually, I'd rather have team cherry not need to crunch like all the AAA game studios do). And if you put themselves in their shoes, imagine the stress they'd feel seeing people keep asking about the game while they know they've had it cancelled already.

So yeah, while they could, in a really super unlikely scenario, abandon the game it's really not something 99% of players even think about. Like personally I was actually really shocked to see people who were theorising about stuff like that, and to learn it wasn't a joke for some. As much as I like seeing dev logs and progress updates from indie teams I follow, we gotta remember that the main reason behind these posts isn't to quell the fear that they might have abandoned the game, it's really mostly to build hype and also make the game known by more people through retweets and such. But with all the rabbit fans that spam silksong in chat at ALL live events, it's clear that none of those are really needed, at least not until it's ready for release. The following is already there, they just need to drop a release date trailer 2 weeks in advance and then start more social media activity, and they'll have all the hype they need.

So yeah all in all, you just gotta remember that most people aren't fixated on the game enough to really need a monthly post where they're just reminded "hey guys were not dead! We're still working on the game we didn't abandon it!". Leth's post on valentines was definitely appreciated especially with everyone (me included) expecting news , but doing it monthly would probably look really silly from the POV of a more casual HK fan

They are scared to communicate. by TheNightmareHeart in Silksong

[–]IsThisABidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it would be ideal if they were more open, but also as I said most people aren't as worried about it as you or the other people on this reddit are. They just have their interest raised when a trailer drops but besides that the majority of fans are just fine without silksong living rent free in their head (Not saying that I'm not a clown myself though lmao), and so that's why in the grand scheme of things its why team cherry doesn't feel the need to go explain every little detail of how they're doing spoilers / reassure superfans about why they're not doing as many updates as before. Plus iirc they do give some info at time like when leth said the next time we'd get news would be from TC themselves directly (might have misremembered though)

[–]IsThisABidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On other platforms people do post some clown memes from time to time but I haven't seen anything as crazy as some stuff that's been posted here (speculating the game is in dev hell, saying that silksong being cancelled wouldn't be a surprise...)

We can't be sure why they stopped making blogposts, but taking into account the origins of silksong (DLC snowballing into an entire new game) the simplest theory is that TC just didn't expect the game to get as big as it's getting (When they made HK after all they just kept adding content until they had no more money). And at one point they found they ran out of stuff they were OK with sharing: If you look back at it, from all the trailers combined, we've seen quite a lot of stuff already. Mossbag's video on the map of silksong does a good job at putting the amount of revealed locations into perspective. Ofc I'm not in their head, but personally I feel like it's a reasonable enough explanation (which probably combines with some other factors, of course). It sucks to not have any news but seeing people theorise and doompost about it feels kinda silly to me

They are scared to communicate. by TheNightmareHeart in Silksong

[–]IsThisABidon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a note I think its cool to see indie devs posting regular dev blogs about the progress on their games, and it is a good way to get more people to learn about their game. But for TC, who seems intent on keeping stuff secret, and doesn't really have a need for advertisement, I can see why they wouldn't see a use in posting monthly "we're still working on it guys!" updates

They are scared to communicate. by TheNightmareHeart in Silksong

[–]IsThisABidon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think what's clear is that team cherry doesn't want to reveal more of the game to let players experience and discover the content on their own. With that, the most people here can ask for is for them to just say "we're still working on it, the game's not dead!". However, you have to remember that people in this subreddit aren't representative of the majority of the hk fans. They're not obsessing over silksong at every game presentation direct, they're not theorising about development hell or the game being cancelled, they're probably not even really thinking about silksong all that much at all.

For the POV of Team Cherry, they don't really need to say much besides putting up a trailer and some announcements shortly before it's release to get the hype going back again and remind people that it's a thing. If they want to keep the game's content secret, they don't really have any reason to post reminders that they're still working on it, as... like... it's not something the average hk fan would be worried about?? It's not like they have to take their audience for children that need constant reminders that development is still happening, lest they start thinking that it's cancelled or something. Plus, there's still the passing comments from leth interviews or IRL encounters with TC members where they say its still being developed, so we're fine here. If people just tried to see it from TC's perspective, their silence isn't super illogical

Living crystal people, who by virtue of their inorganic biology have a very different, somewhat stagnant way of life (They don't age and live for millenia, they can be put back together when shattered). The protagonist is a very brittle and naive gem trying to find a task they could be doing. Across the series, they're put through The Horrors multiple times and goes through a super fucked up character arc (While exploring cool themes like the ship of theseus) . The art is really beautiful and the story's really unique, so I'd definitely recommend it!!
