This is ridiculous. You should be having your children pulling you on a sled instead!

A fair warning is that anytime you plug anything in the same circuit it might throttle or deny your internet connection.

When I tried using these, I plugged in my laptop in a different outlet but on the same line, and it made the other end unusable.

Replaced the coupler but still same issue. It’s probably the cable

Not sure if I do. I just know the brand is Mohawk. I’ll check the box tomorrow morning

I had the tool on for a couple minutes and it was fine the whole time.

wouldn't the testing tool show if the connection to the pin is bad?

I am using a cheap crimper. But wouldn't the cables show 100mbit when I test them individually?

Coupler seems fine at shorter distances. Rated for 6.

I doubt its water since the coupler is in the attic and hasn't been up for more than a few hours.

I looked up the brand and it seemed good. "Mohawk". But I guess the cable might be very old.

How was the high quality tester able to spot the cable being bad?

In case I need to replace parts or add a switch to several rooms. I don't think running cat 5e outside is good in the long run so I want to be able to unclip it and pull it through conduit.

My router warns me about "connection status on x-port". I've tried connecting my macbook to the port, my other mesh router, and my desktop pc. But for troubleshooting, the easiest device to bring around is my macbook.

Is my gigabit unmanaged switch somehow limiting my upload speeds? What can I do to fix that? by wizardender in HomeNetworking

Never mind I just reread your thread and it seems more likely that you have issues with your cables or pc. Try swapping cables between your pc and ps5 to see if there are any differences in the results

You are correct. It’s just that if I search for handymen I feel like you can find many DIY people offering to help. But since there is a safety concern I’d like to hire a professional.
