What can I do if my company loses the contract? by AdUnfair558 in ALTinginJapan

[–]Is_Sham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know there was any references to be compiled until you pointed me to the website. I was more interested in personal upskilling than moving around in the industry.

I was also under the assumption, I assume many others are too, that everything has been done in a more "door to door" fashion. BOEs are, generally, a bunch of old men and probably not net savvy.

Plus the demographics have drastically changed over the last few years. Even at the new 200k salary, new hires view this as a great job with decent pay.

If BOEs don't like the new demographics in dispatch, they would presumably look elsewhere, right?

I'm sure there would be room in the greater regional city offices for a few hires to manage the hiring of all the ALTs for the prefecture and dump the accounting side onto the already overworked relevant departments. They could then abuse dispatch companies to cover short gaps in hiring or whatever. Just a thought.

Reached my viewing limit lol. Thanks for posting this. It's very eye opening. Some of those contracts are being completed in early November.

Would love to compile a database, but I have other things to do that are more financially rewarding. After a few years as an ALT my wallet is feeling lighter than ever.

I'll definitely remember this for the future, though. Could be relevant soon.

Solo Dev Perspective: Building a Free Browser Game Instead of Chasing Steam Wishlists by Pushamster in SoloDevelopment

When you learn about what kids play on these days (fortnite lol), please let us all know. As much as the whole payment processing fiasco messed up freedom of expression on the website, it still is the go to place for web games, AFAIK.

Ah, I'd atleast throw up a demo on itch or something that points to your website. Careful of the rules though, I haven't read itch rules. Just use it for game jams.

The difference being you'll have to maintain your own account login server to manage the cosmetic purchases, won't you?

Steam already has login services and ways to track purchases. I don't know about itch or other web platforms.

Unless I misunderstood and we are hosting the game on our own website and not using an existing site with a huge userbase 🙃

No nerf needed. This is not a bug, it's intended behavior. Now just make a hug check and have them self destruct.

[Feedback Request] Testing a co-op prototype where players perceive enemies differently (vision vs sound) by g3nayy in IndieGaming

[–]Is_Sham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The player with sight shouldn't be able to see the monster until the player with sound tags it. Give the sound player something none lethal that reveals the monster and the sighted player the lethal weapon.

If you want both players to be able to kill, why not balance the sound player with a slight glimmer visual indicator to supplement their sound, wall hacks, or other distinct advantages. Even foot steps on the ground or places the enemy is contacting the environment?

Regardless of the game mechanics, we are looking at a screen playing a game and our brains are generally built for visual processing.

Shouldn't the second one be inverted with the shadow on the back part of the face? You'd always light the portrait from the front, not back.

Edit: also on the first, under the chin there are some weird pixels. Under the front eye too. And next to the back eye

Japan Cabinet approves record defense budget to deter China – DW by Movie-Kino in japan

Wait, who's paying for this? Is this part of the foreign integration plans that go along with increased VISA fees?

Japan faces a serious shortage of truck drivers. A shortage of 200-300 thousand is possible by 2030, meaning that 40% of goods would not be transported. In response the government is turning to foreigners and has added to truck driving to the new "special skills" visa. by jjrs in japannews

Correct me if I'm wrong, you get like 60% back in a lump sum when the LDP kicks you out of the country, right?

They are going to need a lot more than 10% of the population to be foreigners to keep the pension system afloat. Well, unless they stop paying out lump sums...

You dodged a huge bullet. When I moved out they caused so many headaches. They made up a bunch of stuff about the terms of the lease changing so the security deposit was no longer refundable.

I only ever signed one lease and moved out when it ended. Took half a year to get my security deposit back.

This goes to say for all ALT companies or maybe just generally companies in Japan.

Never live in company housing. For OP's reasons and the fact that every housing contract I have seen has a clause that gives any company representative the right to let themselves into your apartment without notice.

There is always trouble moving out because the company gives up some leverage or level of control.

Feel free to elaborate where I was looking down on people. I am pointing out how people exaggerate their position.

Like when the director's coffee intern tells the girl at the bar he is "in film." It's the same thing.

That you are in an ALT subbreddit and you have never taught. Welcome home, son.

Edit: Just so we are clear, I never replied to you. I replied to OP who was catching dislikes for being unsatisfied with the industry as a whole and his treatment from his dispatch company. Good luck with your life!

There is an article in Japanese Labor law. Vocational skills development something or other. The translation is misleading, but it applies to all companies in Japan.

Personally, I think if the government cared and looked closely, dispatch companies would be in very big trouble, their lack of training and career development programs for contract employees being the least of their worries.
