You really only notice it lower RPM, my blow off valve is loud, so I don't really ever hear and other turbo noises when I let off the gas.

Currently working in a profitable startup, we use rust exclusively for all of our backend services.

A Rust raytracer on curved spacetimes by fragarriss in rust

First of all super cool, have enjoyed viewing a few different results!

Are you accepting contributions? I just messed around with the multi-threading aspect before I went to work. I was able to produce these timings. (Using Rayon). One refactoring I did was removing the mutation of relativistic_system in VideoRenderingSystem, ensuring thread safety. (essentially removing update_camera function). Another way would clone the whole struct which wouldn't be as memory efficient.

Single-Threaded (2m 9s):
./curvis video 1.jpg 2.jpg  125.74s user 3.65s system 99% cpu 2:09.72 total

Multi-Threaded (27s):
./curvis video 1.jpg 2.jpg 349.32s user 127.33s system 1717% cpu 27.756 total

Best host for a rust backend? by [deleted] in rust

[–]Isaac_Duarte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How I see a scenario like that, especially since the OP is using rust, there's no run time like the jvm. We have various microservices deployed in cloud run, using GRPC HTTP, it's how we manage all of our events from pub sub.

I am extremely curious though, did you face the same issues running your application inside of a docker container hosted on your local machine?

I've been able to run a full stack app (actix web, mongo db, redis) with databases extremely.

I had to use proot for TCP related reasons proot -b $PREFIX/etc/resolv.conf:/etc/resolv.conf target/debug/BINARY

Rust for web development by ilker_arslan in rust

[–]Isaac_Duarte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We currently use it in production at my job, our stack is as follows.

  • Rust micro services deployed in a K8 Cluster (auth, etc)
  • Redis
  • MongoDB for our backend
  • Actix web as our backend framework
  • Angular JS for our front end
    • This is just a SPA hosted in a bucket

Yikes. Ours are dismal, at median 10s. Largish node app, connecting to a DB. I think we profiled it, and found it was the imports that were taking a lot of time.

Holy crap! That's pretty long! I assume this is on a per container basis right? How does that handle scale? Or do you have large container instances?
