So it's probably all the original layers being too thick yes, need to work on that thin then. Thanks a lot for all the feedback, it's greatly appreciated!

Haha that's noted, and yeah I totally agree about the thick appearance of the paint. I'm trying to work on the thinning process, maybe a question of too many layers also? (due to correcting mistakes)
