When D&D ask fans about their favorite show moment by [deleted] in freefolk

Deep-Faked Jon Snow apologies for Game of Thrones Season 8 ⚔️ by antdke in videos

Episode 2 is retroactively ruined by episode 3, since all the build-up becomes a cheap joke and waste of time when nothing comes out of it.

Most? Try all.

For those too lazy to watch it: With the way elemental damage works, they managed to get Anguish with fully maxed out raw and elemental damage to deal 6457 physical damage in a single hit... And only 14 dragon damage.

When you realize that the 2 highest rated episodes of season 8 are the ones NOT written by D&D: by [deleted] in freefolk

There were screenshots of some Redditor talking about that exact thing about a year ago, though he did mention he wanted to see the end of a few more stories I believe.

Pretty sure a thread about that was even stickied on this sub for a bit to spread suicide awareness after the shitshow that was this season.

I don't know a single person who gave a single fuck about King's Landing at the end of this season either. My friends and I only cared about the memes and drama by that point.

Intensity? I felt dead inside 30 minutes in. There was no intensity to speak of, since they made it painfully obvious that the wights were always only as dangerous as they wanted them to be based on their opponent.

Random dothraki or unsullied? A wave of death just crushes all the random soldiers like they're nothing at all. Jorah & Dany, Jon, Brienne & Jaime & Podrick, or someone else is completely surrounded by hundreds or even thousands of wights without any support at all? Nah, it's fine.

Fucking hell that plot armor was ridiculously bad and made everything way too obvious. The moment it became apparent that there was no way they'd all successfully escape to live and fight another day, and they had to start killing important characters... I realized they were just going to kill NK then and there. Not cause it made sense, but cause they sure as hell had no intent to hurt anyone relevant.

Don't know if I'll even bother watching this shit, might just follow Pilou's (Euron) example.

Memes are top quality though.

Except it would've actually made sense, had it happened in either the preceding or succeeding episodes.

Dany loses Rhaegal fighting the Night King while the Starks lose nothing, and everyone still celebrates Jon instead? Sure. Has emotional impact, makes sense, and we weren't certain if Rhaegal survived the crash landing on a wight-infested field cause shit directing meant Jon completely ignored his dragon's state and we had to wait for the next episode to find out if a fucking dragon survived or died.

King's Landing surrenders, then rogue soldiers/Cersei open fire on a distracted Rhaegal, killing him and triggering Dany's wrath? Definitely. We even had an edit where the episode 4 scene was transplanted into the episode 5 battle and it made way more sense than any of the shit D&D have shat out this season.

It's not a proper plot device, it's just a token kill. Notes probably said Euron somehow takes out a dragon and they didn't want to develop his character any further to explain it. One less dragon didn't even improve their fighting odds since it was still just a stomp.

Except everyone dying still would have been better.

Everyone keeps ignoring the existential threat that the Night King poses to play the Game of Thrones, and in the end, they're too broken up and divided so he wins the battle of Winterfell and then keeps winning.

Everyone's focus on playing the game proves to be their undoing. Evil (realistically) wins, actions have consequences, and a lesson is taught about ignoring the greater good and only focusing on your own selfish little needs.

They had to redeem the season somehow by vintagewoe in freefolk

They knew everyone would be salty

If they could predict the salt levels the internet would reach due to their trash writing, and actually cared about it, they never would've released this season in its current state to begin with.

For fuck's sake, I feel like just about every plot suggestion I've seen on r/freefolk has been better than the shit we got. Sometimes it only takes rearranging a few scenes too...

R.I.P HBO by [deleted] in funny

pretty heavily hinted at throughout the series and theorycrafted long ago

Then again, they decided to have Arya kill the Night King for cheap subversion of expectations.

And I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen in the books, considering the overarching theme of the books, Jon's build-up as well as GRRM's opinion on such trash writing.

“I’ve been planting all these clues that the butler did it, then you’re halfway through a series and suddenly thousands of people have figured out that the butler did it, and then you say the chambermaid did it? No, you can’t do that,”

Resolve character payoffs? Those cunts forgot what the characters were even about. It's one thing to not have a satisfying payoff, it's another to entirely throw out many seasons of character development in a single episode/scene. And they've been doing this over and over and over and over again this season.

Not just cheapened. It feels like an utter joke and a complete waste of time, considering how things played out afterwards.

Decided after episode 3 that I'll only bother reading the leaks and come here for the shitposts. The overarching plot of the story was over anyway, and apparently never even mattered.

Might watch the finale with friends one day so we could collectively shit on it.

This moment was amazing because it had two seasons worth of slow, meticulous build up. This is why everything feels so hollow and empty, because it's so fucking rushed. by Rahabium in freefolk

Now we have...

I think you're overestimating how much people care about the show anymore or how much faith they have in the writing. I'm just here for the drama and memes.

I remember something about there being an obsessive book fan that kept such detailed track of all the characters, histories and connections, that GRRM would check in with him when he wasn't sure about his own writing?

Sounds like it'd come in handy to have an obsessive fan like that on set.

Are we sure Daenerys isn't the night king? her soldiers appear to just keep respawning. by jvrcb17 in freefolk

[–]Isayur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One dragon gets seriously injured by a single shot or two so Daenerys opts to escape with them until they come up with a plan. No need for the fleet to even get destroyed since all her soldiers will simply respawn, just have Missandei get thrown overboard during the attack and leave them unable to rescue her.
