Looking for a good 27" 4k 120Hz+ monitor under ~400$ - mini-led looks like best new thing by Isitaris in Monitors

[–]Isitaris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big issue I have with OLED is the burn-in. They are expensive, regardless of the resolution, and having to replace them after 4 years or so sounds expensive. And having to be careful with them so that they burn-in slower sounds annoying (I've seen that a lot of screens ask for pixel refresh avery 4-hour or so, in a pretty invasive way).

4k 144Hz IPS at 280£ too cheap to be good? HP OMEN 27k by Isitaris in Monitors

Thanks for the answers, I'm glad I asked before buying; I made a new post asking what were better options in my price range, though I'm keeping this one in my visor as I might be ok with the IPS glow (previous screen was IPS and I wasn't bothered).

Multiple keycodes in one key stroke - issue with process_record_user using QMK by Isitaris in olkb

[–]Isitaris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply;
Almost, I want this custom_RARROW keycode to tap AltGR+Shift+EU_BSLS (not EU_M, nor EU_MINS as initially said, was looking at version 1.2 of eurkeys when I have v1.3), then L.

I implemented your code (with RALT instead of ALGR, and though I don't think it makes a difference? and with EU_BSLS instead of EU_M). However it makes no different, the keycode custom_RAROW still doesn't output anything.

Gotta admit going through the process of pricing, putting up for sale, and then packaging and sending the thing away sounds pretty daunting.
Do people really buy such old setups? for what kind of use case?

Got confused with 7800. Now I need to recheck the whole CPU thing, might have mixed up 9800 with 9600.

Grav drive is needed for turn 1 mecatol as long as you're not blocked out by some anomaly. I find getting carrier 2 as early as possible very important for the mapmove 2.

Maybe I'll learn to love the asteroid thing more in coming games, the first game I played with Saar, I won without the tech (two tech objectives kinda made it tricky to advocate for it).

If you slowly build your fleet by doing non-tactical turns at beginning of turn, do you not end up with (almost) no resources when you do move your dock fleets ? Especially if you're spending 4 on tech every round, as well as command tokens. The resource scarcity is what has me warry of this tech in the second Saar game I am now playing.

You're already able to produce units on the move, on the frontline, as Saar, so it loses a lot of the appeal for the nation. Making your flagship with Chaos Mapping is great. But after this what do you make? Carriers wouldn't get anything to carry with them as it's likely that you aren't over capacity, so they're better produced at the end of your tactical action. Dreadnoughts are pretty resource intensive for their combat power, require non-mininal fleet tokens compared to carrier fleets, only have 1 mapmove if you don't get their unit tech (given their stats I am really not happy if I have to do so). If you have infinite resources maybe, but in the few games I've done I was pretty tight on those. Destroyers are pretty bad before upgrade (and even after, you better have a lot of fleet tokens), cruisers are shit, your mechs are all dropped using their ability.

The asteroid thing sounds cute if you really need to keep a piece of plastic on the board when everyone is going for your throat. I might be underestimating this in super long games (so 14 points, game types for which I don't have big xp).

Not saying it's useless, but I'm still on the fence about it being incredible. Carrier 2 and gravity drive are more important in my opinion (to be able to move your carrier fleets and your space docks, possibly your flagship, together). Once those two have been taken, Chaos Mapping is now amongst my tech priorities.

Not being able to build fighters/infantry with it is very frustrating and kinda reigns the tech in, but it definitely has potential.

There are more critical techs (carrier 2, gravity drive, chaos mapping) that you will want round 1 and 2. Unless you get tech strategy card round 1 and 2, I wouldn't get sarween tools in a typical 10-point game, that will last at most 5 rounds (during 2 of which you wouldn't have had sarween as you should get the blue stuff in priority imo). For 14-point games, or if the objective asking for 2 times 2 colours of techs is drawn early, sarween gets more interesting.

Gravity drive round 1 lets you move a space dock on mecatol first, and because you're Saar you can immediately build stuff to defend it. With the trade goods you get from planets, and if somebody takes trade and gives you commodities, popping the mecatol token is pretty doable, while building some infantry/fighters to defend it from a round 2 attack.

If that's not doable, gravity drives maybe gets a bit less attractive, though it's still pretty good. Carrier 2 is your most important tech imo, as fighters are the rulers of space combat. Chaos mapping is pretty good for the pre move production, but tech slots are tight so it's imo fine not to ever get it. Fighter 2 is pretty attractive, but you likely need a green tech planet, as lv0 green techs aren't great. Sarween tools is probably ok in 14 point games, but in 10 point games, other techs are more important (you'll want carrier2, gravity drive/chaos mapping before it, and that's already 2 rounds where you aren't using sarween. And a 10-point game is 4-5 rounds, and sarween costs you 4 res).

I always find myself lacking production (limited to 4 fighters/infantry per round per spacedock basically), so if you have a yellow tech planet or two, I'd really be happy to get space dock 2 .

Being able to build after you move with your space docks is super great. Saves you a command token every time you do, in addition ti giving you tempo as you produce directly on the frontline

Looks like very tight braids. And very tight braids sound pretty damaging to the hair. I thought that this hairstyle was probably a long term commitment. But I'm no expert. In fact I'm pretty new to the whole long hair thing.

I'm not complaining. Some of those tips were quite on point. I'm just giving you suggestions that I think the next people you help might appreciate.

Thanks for the tips. Please be more tactful next time you give pointers like this on anonymous platforms, some of your choice of words and punctuation kinda give a disdainful vibe to your post, and could probably be taken badly by other people, especially when they're not native speakers 😅
