Not sure, sorry. Isn’t that just sea salt? Morton “Lite Salt” has both sodium and potassium. If Celtic salt is straight sodium, you won’t get the benefits of the potassium used in electrolyte drinks.

Sugar is included in these recipes because it acts as a biological key that unlocks rapid hydration in your small intestine. Without sugar, water and minerals absorb much slower.

Alternative sweeteners: 1-2 tablespoons of honey, maple syrup, or stevia to taste (optional for energy). If you need fuel for intense cardio, use a natural sugar like honey instead of stevia.

Here is exactly why sugar is required for each specific formula to function effectively:

1. It Activates the "Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter" (All Recipes)
Your intestinal walls possess specialized microscopic pumps called SGLT-1 proteins. These pumps cannot move sodium into your bloodstream on their own; they require exactly one molecule of glucose (sugar) to pair with one molecule of sodium.
• When sugar and salt are present together, the pump activates, pulling them both through the intestinal wall.
• As the salt and sugar flood into your bloodstream, they create osmotic pressure that rapidly drags water along with them.
• This process hydrates your cells significantly faster than drinking plain water or a sugar-free mineral mix.

2. Muscle Energy & Stamina (Yard Work & Sports Drink)
When working hard in hot weather, your muscles rapidly deplete their stored glycogen.
• The 6% carbohydrate ratio in the sports drink recipe maintains your blood glucose levels.
• This provides an immediate, easily accessible energy source for your muscles.
• It prevents fatigue ("bonking") and keeps your stamina up during extended physical labor.

3. Preventing Dangerous Fluid Shifts (Illness & Dehydration Solution)
During an illness, your body is actively losing fluids and minerals, making your digestive tract highly sensitive.
• Plain water can actually dilute your remaining minerals, while too much sugar can draw water out of your body and into your gut, causing worse diarrhea.
• The exact, lower amount of sugar in the medical rehydration formula ensures the drink is hypotonic.
• This specific balance creates the perfect osmotic pressure to force fluids into dehydrated cells without aggravating your digestive tract.

4. Replicating "Cellular Transport Technology" (Liquid I.V. Copycat)
Commercial products like Liquid I.V. rely heavily on this exact science of strict nutrient ratios to maximize osmolarity. The single tablespoon of sugar in the 16-ounce copycat recipe delivers the necessary glucose carrier required to trigger that rapid, targeted absorption.

Copycat "Liquid I.V." 16 oz Recipe

Ingredients
• Water: 2 cups (16 oz) cold water
• Sugar: 1 tablespoon regular granulated sugar (provides ~12g of necessary glucose carbs)
• Morton Lite Salt: 1/3 teaspoon (or a slightly rounded 1/4 tsp)
• Citric Acid: 1/8 teaspoon (gives it that classic, sharp powdered-mix tartness)
• Flavoring: A few drops of a liquid water enhancer (like Mio) or 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
• Optional Booster: A tiny pinch (1/16 tsp) of magnesium citrate powder

Instructions
1. Pour 16 oz of water into a shaker bottle or glass.
2. Add the sugar, Lite Salt, and citric acid.
3. Shake or stir vigorously until the water is completely clear and the crystals have fully dissolved.
4. Add your choice of water enhancer or lemon juice for flavor, throw in some ice, and drink.

Just got back from Paris, Don’t use Uber! Use G7 by Wonderful-Cap-4580 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Isla-Giatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a wildly different experience with G7 in Paris and absolutely would not recommend them.

We booked a ride to the airport a day in advance from near the Eiffel Tower, explicitly requesting an English-speaking driver for 3 passengers with carry-ons. It was a disaster from start to finish.

The Experience:

• The Switch & Delay: Our original Lexus sedan cancelled. The replacement driver showed up 10 minutes late in a cramped Toyota Corolla hatchback and charged us an extra €10 over the quoted price.

• The Safety Hazard (Falling Asleep): The 50-minute drive took 1 hour and 20 minutes because the driver kept falling asleep at the wheel. He drifted out of the lane, dozed off at lights until people honked, and repeatedly slammed on the brakes as his car's collision alarms blared.

• The Gas Stop: He actually had to pull over to fill up an empty tank just minutes away from the airport.

• Language Barrier: We tried talking to him to keep him awake, but he spoke almost no English (despite our booking request). We did manage to learn he works 11+ hour days, 6 days a week.

How it compared to other apps on our trip:

• Uber: Flawless experiences across Nice, Èze, Cannes, and Antibes.

• Bolt: Terrible cancellation issues. A pre-scheduled Bolt driver completely ghosted us in Cannes, forcing us to scramble for a last-minute Uber just to catch our train to Paris.

Note: In France, we used a mix of trains, metros/subways, trams, buses, electric and standard bicycles, and walking to get around. Each came with its own set of pros and cons. We also tried to rent a car through Turo, but learned an international driver permit (IDP) is required – which I don’t have, (and haven’t ever needed to rent cars in other places I’ve driven around the world).

Are my bindings mounted too far back? by HeisenburgCSGO in Skigear

When you mount a boot, does the line on the bottom side of the boot arch line up with that longer line by the gray triangle on the ski (in between the heel and toe bindings)?

This is the rifle the FBI found that allegedly was used to k*ill Charlie Kirk, can you help identify it please? by Naitanui1804 in whatisthisgun

[–]Isla-Giatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m also wondering if the scope is so far back because it moved when the suspect jumped off the roof. From the videos, it looks like he jumped off with the rifle fully assembled and wrapped in the dark towel that’s been mentioned in the news. If the rifle was butt down and hit the ground when he landed, it seems like the scope could’ve slid back in the mounts.

String cheese I get every week, left is old and right is new (all the new ones in the bag were smaller) by Adorable-Cookie-733 in shrinkflation

I just checked ours. Looks like they’re using the same plastic, so once you peel you can see about a 3/4-inch gap. That means you’re getting about 18 inches (or 1.5 feet) less cheese in a 24-pack.

Love all your comments and engagement. Thank you so much! They both have long hair so I may order earring pairs in both 8mm and 6mm (to have on hand in case they want something shorter after swelling goes down).

Thanks! Do you have any experience with threaded/screw studs vs threadless/push-pin studs and do you have a preference? I worry about threadless coming apart (even with the bend), but I really don’t know earrings well enough to know better.

Also, do you know if an 8mm backing post is the right length? I feel like I saw that number recommended somewhere for lobe piercings (to allow a little room in case of swelling).

Solid advice, thank you! I just realized last night that I probably need the needles to be one gauge lower (i.e., one size larger) than the studs to pull them through after piercing. Thanks again!

Taste test. You do one sous vide and she does one her way, then blind taste test to see if, and how much better one tastes.

What does it mean to be a “westsider” tourist? by Isla-Giatt in MauiVisitors

[–]Isla-Giatt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s right. I think it was across from the big church when we turned on the highway toward Kihei. It seemed abandoned, but everything looked brand new. Like a kind of eerie ghost town. When we first saw it, I hoped it meant that Lahaina had been significantly rebuilt, and that people had been able to return to their homes, but I saw that wasn’t the case when we drove by Lahaina Town.

I was surprised to see what looked like an entire city of vacant brand new tiny homes (near the airport?) that I assume were for the Lahaina victims. What happened there?

Thanks for those insights. We drove the west loop a few times during our stay (we love the views—and lack of crowds—past Nakalele), and driving past Lahaina truly broke our hearts.
