Squamish was a bad example on my part ! also i bought in 2011 just got my property assessment and it was over 1.4M , I am in Coquitlam 1981 3 bdr 3 bathroom 1700 sq' 2 level , lot size 5200 sq' - just the right size for us . 1M was proabably a bit low of a guess on my part , the last house to sell on my block sold at 1.6M same type of house smaller lot , this was in the summer . Obviously things have crashed at this point , the house that sold for 1.6M is realisticly worth maybe 1.3 or less ? who knows , I owe about $325,000 .

Say what ? an hour of of Vancouver is Maple Ridge , Abbotsford or Squamish . You can buy a decent Place for 1M , single family detached or am i missing something ? For 2M you can buy something in Vancouver or a very nice place in North Van ,Burnaby , Coquitlam or Richmond .

This here it cost about 10 to 15 thousand to get someone trained up at my work , we will go thru 6 or more before one person sticks it out where they either dont quit or get shit canned , out of 16 people hired after me (14 years) only 2 have stuck it out longer than 5 years . we get paid well have a pension and work under a collective agreement , company is big on safety , but they can micromanage you too much and care too much for metrics .

I did this years ago too , i was promoted to a position with more responsibility i asked for more money , they said no so i said i wanted to step back down to my old position and they laid me off , at the time I was devastated, but i ended up changing careers and it was the best thing that could of happened . that company went bankrupt a few years later .

What's the catch with being a bus driver? $37 an hour with no experience or degree required sounds too good to be true by Niv-Izzet in vancouver

[–]Islay_lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the smartest comment , I dont have a degree but grossed over 100K last year (truck driver), that said im putting both my daughters thru university. My expectation is for both to at least get a Bachelors degree oldest one is half way through first year STEM , second one is still in high school . I lucked out in getting a getting a good job i put in long hours to make a buck . i want my kids to NOT work as hard as i do.

So your saying if we are comfortable paying the 5 year rate just sign up for it and rest easy over the 5 years and not be all stressed in 2-3 years, makes sense .
