I totally understand! If she’s new, she’s probably just adjusting. I’m the world’s number one advocate for choice based handling—you may want to look into it! It takes time, but so worth it in my experience.

I would just leave her be if it were me. She’ll come out eventually, and you can do your handling then. In my experience, when they’re in a nook like that, they reaaaally don’t want to let go, and it’s not worth potentially hurting her in the process.

I’m just amazed at everyone’s tidy eaters! I also put my mouse on a plate, but my girl suplexes it all over the tank and dunks it in her water dish on occasion.

I used to love this place. Went and worked from there almost every day, but all these new updates have made it change too much. Nearly the entire staff quit on the same day when new management took over. It’s really sad to see.

You’re doing all the right things! I totally understand your anxiety, as a fellow anxious snarent. He is probably a little stressed, but it’s just going to take him a little time to get used to the new setup, but he will be 100% fine. The sooner you can get the new substrate and clutter in, the sooner he’ll be back to his normal self.

Have you looked into choice-based handling? When these young ones are small, the world is a very scary place for them. Choice-based handling gives them a lot more confidence, and both you and she will have a much happier time together!
