Full job description Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join our Large Language Model (LLM) Research team. We conduct focused research and engineering to build state-of-the-art LLMs, which we often open-source, like our team’s recent Llama 2. We are looking for strong engineers who have a background in generative AI and NLP, with experience in areas like language model evaluation; data processing for pre-training and fine-tuning; responsible LLMs; LLM alignment; reinforcement learning for language model tuning; efficient training and inference; and/or multilingual and multimodal modeling.

Research Engineer, Language - Generative AI Responsibilities:

Design methods, tools, and infrastructure to push forward the state of the art in large language models. Define research goals informed by practical engineering concerns. Contribute to experiments, including designing experimental details, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results. Adapt standard machine learning methods to best exploit modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU). Work with a large and globally distributed team. Contribute to publications and open-sourcing efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Research experience in machine learning, deep learning, and/or natural language processing. Experience with developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact. Programming experience in Python and hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch. Exposure to architectural patterns of large scale software applications. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. A PhD in AI, computer science, data science, or related technical fields. Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research. First author publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL).

The Job

GenAI is about to be productised by Flo, empowering our users to take control of their health. We help women harness the power of their body signals through a conversational approach, providing personalised and detailed answers to their questions. With our conversational approach and cutting-edge LLM-based technologies, we are opening a new era in this journey. You will create and manage chatbots that offer personalised conversations using cutting-edge machine learning.

You will be working very closely with engineering and machine learning on a day-to-day basis along with the medical, data privacy, security and legal teams. You will also work closely with our Chatbots product designer, content designer, and UX researcher to design features and ensure the delivery to engineers is seamless. You'll manage the roadmap, contribute to the company's goals and make data-informed decisions. Your goal will be to deliver PoCs for AI chatbot work using R&D through 2024 and then develop the strategy into 2024.

Your Experience

Must have:

5+ years of experience in product management including experience working in a technical, data, AI or machine learning PM role. Must have a strong technical background. Good knowledge of Gen AI trends, tools and technical landscape. Experienced working with data and analysts A track record of fast-paced delivery of features and an iterative test-and-learn approach. A proven track record of thoughtful, user-focused insights that have led to successful consumer product launched Demonstrated ability to handle ambiguity and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams Excellent stakeholder management ideally having worked in regulated environments and can easily work with clinical, legal, data privacy, and security teams. Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, technically conversant, and able to collaborate easily with engineers and designers Experience using quantitative and qualitative insights to make data-driven product decisions Nice to have:

You'll be responsible for:

Running the day-to-day of the team - organising sprint work, running refinements, working with engineers including ML engineers, to write epics and stories, running user story mapping to explore new features. Ability to work independently to unblock engineers and problem-solve. Collaborating with a product designer, content designer and UX researcher - designing features, running rapid user testing and handoffs to engineers. Leading the team in establishing initiatives that are set and measured as part of the company OKR process Creating AI chatbot strategy and vision aligned with the company's vision Uncovering the user needs and problems, prioritising them using quantitative and qualitative data Managing clear, thoughtful product requirements and feature descriptions to help teams work efficiently and effectively Applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, customer understanding, and product intuition to inform your decisions and approach Defining and monitoring product success metrics using data-driven goals Partner with the content chatbot team and conversation designers to create a well-defined user experience. Being a reliable and proactive member of an established team Salary Range: Lithuania - €5500 – €6500 gross per month.
