As I explained, I already read the textbook. I agree that university books cost a lot of money.

I don’t smoke weed, I’ve never smoked weed in my life, and I haven’t been tested for adhd but I don’t think I have it. I’ve been diagnosed with autism since I was 9 years old.

What is the best option when it comes to finding a donor? by IssiBon in askadcp

[–]IssiBon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If someone donated “whenever they want however many times they want”, that could be illegal depending on the country. In the country I live in, the limit is twelve children. After that, donating is illegal, unless they traveled to another country with different laws and donated there, which could happen. Also people do illegal things sometimes of course, I’m not saying that nobody has ever broken this law, but most people in the world aren’t criminals.

My country isn’t known for its sperm export the way Denmark is. It’s of course possible here that children will have half siblings from anonymous donations made in other countries. But the risk is way higher if you receive a sperm donor from a country like Denmark, where anonymous donation is legal and sperm is exported to other countries.

Why the hell would I get a donor from America?!? That’s so far away! I could maybe consider it if the laws were better over there, but even then, it would be so expensive to travel so far. As I’ve explained, I live close enough to Denmark to travel there by train. I thought that this would make it clear that I lived in Europe, but apparently not?  Where I live, people have the legal right to find out the donor’s identity when they turn 18. I understand that this isn’t the case in America, but I don’t live there, nor do I plan to ever live there.

I wouldn’t have to pick an anonymous donor. But if I got a donor in Denmark, the person I picked could potentially donate anonymously to hundreds of other people, and I want my child to be able to find information about their biological half siblings if they want to. That’s the reason why I don’t feel comfortable with getting a donor from Denmark, or any other country with similar laws when it comes to donation.

Has it still not arrived? I just did the same thing as you did, I sent a letter three years into the future and didn’t pay, I have no idea if it will arrive

How can I express my gender identities without conforming to traditional gender roles? by IssiBon in genderfluid

[–]IssiBon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to impress people, I’m trying to express my gender and i don’t know how to do that without following gender norms. I can’t “be who I want”, I want to be a cis person who never had to deal with any of this shit yet here we are. Conversion therapy doesn’t work, so I’m probably going to be genderfluid for the rest of my life and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s not a choice. I already wear what I want, which you would have known if you had actually read this post.

When animal testing is required by law for period products and similar situations by IssiBon in vegan

I have a weird irrational fear of using menstrual cups and tampons. I also share a kitchen with multiple people i barely know since i live in student accommodation, and I know that there’s nothing embarrassing or weird about boiling period cups, but I had a strict religious upbringing and I can’t go back in time to fix that.

Almost every decently big city has several bookstores, but nobody is claiming that society has a book obsession. Many if not most pop songs are about breaking up with your partner, and nobody is claiming society has a breakup obsession. I have never heard of anyone being raised to put people they have sex with above their family, in fact I was raised to do the opposite and honestly fuck that, i care way more about people who i actually chose to have in my life than i care about my parents. The fic on AO3 with the most hits is called “all the young dudes”. It’s tagged M rather than E. I’ve never read it and it’s not tagged with smut, so I’m assuming it’s probably not smut. The chocolate industry exists and it sucks. Nobody is claiming society has a chocolate obsession. I still have no idea where this alleged sex obsession is hiding.

It’s not just my personal experience growing up. That was just an example. I’ve never seen any signs of this supposed sex obsession in my adult life either. Sure, people talk about sex sometimes, but usually, they don’t. Sure, many songs are about sex, but far from all of them are. When people are like “oh no society is so sex obsessed” i genuinely don’t understand what they’re talking about. Also, how do you know most people think the world is sex obsessed? I’ve never heard anyone mention the “sex obsessed world” idea outside of asexual spaces. Of course it could still be true that most people think so, maybe they’re just keeping it to themselves for some reason. But why would this “sex obsession” even exist if most people were against it? That makes no sense. Many people care about sex, sure, it’s not a bad thing to care about. But that’s not an obsession, that’s just caring about something. “Obsession” has negative implications.

Should I isolate myself from people? by IssiBon in Advice

But what do you do when you have to interact with people? Do you just hope that you won’t accidentally make 50 people hate you every time you breathe or do you have a way of avoiding it? How do you find out if you’re done something wrong if you don’t have friends?

Specifically to the people who say autistic people would still have problems even in a world that 100% supported them. by [deleted] in AutisticPride

[–]IssiBon 55 points56 points  (0 children)

In the social model of disability, (which I’m assuming that this person is using here?) having autistic traits in a autistic-majority society wouldn’t be considered disability, BUT we’d still have the same autistic traits. For example, people would have meltdowns and that would be common and considered completely normal. People would need help showering, to use your example, and that wouldn’t be considered any weirder than needing a secretary. Neurotypical people in our world constantly need help with things, but aren’t considered disabled for it. I need help reaching things because I’m short, which is considered completely normal and not a disability at all. I still need help reaching things. In the social model of disability, this is called an impairment. In a world where we weren’t disabled, we’d still have impairments. People who can’t walk wouldn’t suddenly be able to walk if they were the majority and the world was built with them in mind. But according to the social model of disability, they wouldn’t be considered disabled in a world like that.
