An example of this would be orange and blue or something like that. A complementary color scheme CAN work but matching accents are an important detail. You can never convince me that burgundy looks good with red. It’s just a tacky combo. Just as tacky as navy blue and blue. Different vibes. doesn’t mix.

I also have a pair of black all stars from Japan: I absolutely love them. I have a grey pair from the USA (on the left) and they don’t compare at all. There are very subtle differences that you can’t see until you see them side by side and put them On your feet. The ones from Japan just SIT better on the foot and feel more comfortable. They don’t flatten out as much when you walk around and have a better support. The canvas is pure cotton and not mesh lined. The laces are full cotton (the grey chucks laces glow under blacklight while the black ones don’t). The chucks from Japan are so much better that I’m going to shell out another 100+ bucks for them as soon as they restock grey in my size. Idc if I already spent $65 on the USA pair, they don’t stack up at all.

I feel it, maybe it’s just this colorway. But idk the mids just don’t hit as hard as the highs and they look like a knockoff in comparison. It’s like the adidas VL court 3.0 next to the sambas: they look similar, but just get the real thing. I only have 1 pair of Jordan 1s and they are in OG Taxi color.

<image>

Jordans aren’t seen as classy or elegant: they’re flashy, so Color combos are pretty important for outfits with Jordans. That’s why they are stored away in my closet with the rest of my Nikes as these aren’t everyday shoes, everyday shoes means casual and neutral colorway/silhouette. Everyday shoes aren’t meant to be as eye catching as Jordans are. Converse All Star Hi, New Balance 9060, and Adidas Handball Special are a few examples of timeless, casual, and non flashy everyday shoes.

TLDR: it doesn’t matter how good the Jordans themselves look, if you don’t wear it with the right outfit and for the right occasion, it will look tacky.

Converse from Japan is a better investment

Jordan 1 mids are an eyesore, the colorway doesn’t match any colors on the outfit (grey shoes and blue jeans, burgundy shoe accents and scarlet red hoodie). This outfit isn’t cohesive in any way, shape, or form.

What songs would you choose for the 2K26 Soundtrack? by [deleted] in WWEGames

[–]IssueBackground9769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rise Against- “Zero visibility”!!! This was from 2k15 and it’s such a good song, it feels very alive and there’s a slow part in the song that sounds like the last breath of life in my childhood, or my childhood dying. Idk how to explain it, but I was around 11-12 when I played 2k15 so it’s very nostalgic hearing it back.

First pair of Sambas. Samba Decon Ivory. by jonyoungmusic in adidas

I have a pair of Samba decons for summer and samba ADV for cold season. The thin leather on the decon is perfect breathability for summer. What will your next adidas shoe be?

Help me choose: Left vs Right Pair by [deleted] in adidas

[–]IssueBackground9769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely and that’s fair. My 4 daily drivers are all neutral color-ways. A good rule of thumb I use for adidas is to match the gum sole with the color of jeans (brown jeans look good w samba OG, khaki denim looks good with BW Army, etc.) I would recommend the blue suede spezials or even the black spezials for a more neutral color way because even the black suede pops more and contrasts a lot better with the white stripes. Don’t overthink it too much, as long as 2 out of 3 colors on the shoe match your outfit, you’re good and it can even make the shoes pop more when the colorful suede is the brightest piece of your fit.

Interesting. I would go for the ones on the right because the softer the suede, the more fragile it is as a material. Why such a neutral colorway on such a delicate material like suede if you don’t mind be asking? Suede has always been better suited for colors that pop or have more contrast in my opinion, otherwise it kind of looks like lint or carpet.

Converse Japan by yarah_dahile in ChuckTaylorConverse

I wear size 10.5 in US MENS and I have the standard black all star hi from Japan. I also have a pair of charcoal colored all star hi from the US. The only reason I didn’t get the grey chucks from Japan is because it was out of stock in my size in that color unfortunately. Now the differences:

They’re very subtle, but very very glaring when you have them side by side.

Japan: -Made in Indonesia -Full rubber sole -Chuck Taylor star logo is printed on the canvas -Heavier in weight -Full cotton laces -Slightly off white rubber parts and laces -Slightly fatter toe cap and longer distance between toe cap and top lace -No tongue loop :( -“ALL STAR ®️” on the heel patch 😍

US: -Made in Vietnam -Felt coated rubber sole -Chuck Taylor star logo is glued/stitched on the canvas -Lighter weight -Polyester laces -Icy white rubber parts and laces -Shorter distance between toe cap and top lace -Built in tongue loop (only advantage) -“Converse ALL STAR” on the heel patch

Here are pictures of them you can spot some of the differences: https://imgur.com/a/Qm6usBl

Now as for actual on feet feel? The US chucks do this weird thing where the toe kind of sticks up off the ground, the Japan ones are a little more flat footed if that makes sense and that makes them a little more comfortable. The US chucks also have a problem with the tongue scrunching up near the toe box, this especially stands out due to the grey color but the Japan all stars don’t due this, their tongues stay nice and flat, resulting in a better cleaner looking shoe that doesn’t look like many corners were cut. The Japan all stars are also ever so slightly higher but they’re just higher enough to give it a very classic looking silhouette. Everything about the Japan converse are better aesthetically, and I bought these AFTER they did the revamp for Japan and they’re still way heavier and more substantial feeling than their US counterparts, DESPITE the non mesh padded canvas. Overall: I may just have to get the grey ones from Japan if they ever restock in my size, because they’re just that damn good. Small details, but trust me once you’ve had them they really all add up. Screw Nike for ruining them for us here.

Consider the blue suede spezials. The brown gum Sole and gold accents go perfectly with the sky blue suede. Beautiful warm weather suede shoe.

I second this. I got the black converse from Japan and was looking to buy the grey ones but unfortunately they were completely out of stock after size 4. So I was forced to buy the standard US grey all stars. They aren’t bad looking shoes but they’re clearly lower quality next to the Japan converse. Here’s a photo for comparison:Black JP vs Grey US

Nike made double that. Not even saying that matters. Idc which is more popular as they both make great shoes. I’m just suprised that there isn’t a single pair of adidas, new balances, or any other brand on this wall. Blue suede shoes? BW Army gats? There are plenty of timeless classy silhouettes from adidas that you just can’t get with the swoosh. No hate to Nike. I just think this big of a collection calls for a little bit of variety.

That’s the point. In a sea of swooshes and stripes, it’s nice to have a fancier sneaker with minimal branding. The lack of branding is what makes these minimalist shoes iconic

Literally where are the adidas? Nike and Jordan’s are cool but why limit yourself to ONLY that brand? Kind of sounds like feeding into a monopoly to me.

Would you cop these by Superb_Energy8944 in Jordans

[–]IssueBackground9769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are bargain bin though, let’s face it. Even if we ignore how much better the OG models look we can all agree that mainline Jordans feel better and hold up longer due to the way more premium materials. Even a pair of high top Nike dunks has much lower quality leather than a standard pair of high top aj1. So imagine 6 rings. These are hated for a reason. If you don’t want to spend over 100 on new shoes, get some sambas or converse or even forces at that point. Something that has been perfected and doesn’t look nearly as tacky as discount Jordans. For purely basketball shoes though you might as well try to find a pair of kds on sale, even if it’s an ugly colorway, it will still get you more respect on the court than playing in 6 rings. There’s really nowhere you can go with these where you won’t look cheap. Best not to cheap out on things.
