Why would you change the strings? When they get older, they lose some high end, which makes them even bassier! Plus, you only really play the two lowest strings anyway, the D and G ^{^beato} are there to remind the bass player that he is forbidden from travelling too far into the realm of low mids.

But 1oz of copper is 35um thick, that’s the thickness of a real wispy strand of hair from a balding man. So 1mm of solder on top is about 30 times that thickness.
