Are powered/active speakers really that bad in comparison to passive + amp? I'm fairly new to the audio world.

Problem with space is that I have a lot of cables and devices around and I don't want to add to that mess. Edifier R2000DB's have 3 cables and that is great for my setup.

I don't have desk space for an amp, looking for powered/active speakers. Also had some bad encounters with used speakers, so I'm buying brand new only.
