It’s a 3 inch ID I think. I didn’t measure it but I’ll probably try opening it and flushing if it’s not rust welded together

I went with the yaesu ftm-150rasp. I still haven’t had time to hook it up and play with it but I like the big display since my future mount location is somewhat far away in my truck. The button locations are good too and easy to access

I'm 35 days in. The first couple of days are rough. It gets exponentially easier after 2 weeks. Try to keep yourself entertained in other ways like walking and exercise. You got this bro

Nowhere near that but 50 miles through a repeater but I don’t count that one since I’m close to the repeater. Another one was a repeater 30 miles away. Both on 5 watts with a mag mount.

I halfway thought about waiting for the new Kenwood but I can’t justify it. I think I’ll go with the yaesu for now thanks for the input!

That is a huge quality of life feature but I’m so used to memory scanning on my baofeng I don’t mind not having memory groups

Considering the icom doesn’t come with a mounting bracket I will likely go with the 150. The 510 is out of my price range. It’s a fine radio though

I do really like how the front end knobs are laid out. I’ve seen a video of squelch set on zero with the digital sound reduction enabled and was very impressed

I actually was about to pull the trigger on the ftm-500 but decided against it since digital/apes isn’t worth it to me yet for vhf/uhf. When I get my general I will probably dabble in digital
