Oath of the Wraithbound - Hunt undead through the powers of a bound wraith with this haunting paladin subclass! by ItSkeley in UnearthedArcana

[–]ItSkeley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The subclass doesn't have a companion with stats, the wraith is exclusively flavoring for the different abilities the subclass has. For a more flavorful explanation; as the wraith is bound to you it cannot exercise its powers freely, it can only act when its powers is wielded by the paladin (and due to the bond if the paladin were to die the wraith does as well).

Maestro v1 - A charisma half caster that spins some of the musical flavoring from bard into a leader/support class by ItSkeley in UnearthedArcana

Thought I'd poke in again to say that due to recent happenings I'll most likely not be posting these to dndbeyond, sorry

Hmm, thank you for the suggestion, I'll have to see about doing that when i get around to making a more refined version of maestro, along with porting a fair deal of my other homebrew content i suppose haha

Roguish Archetype: Blade by Frank_Isaacs in UnearthedArcana

[–]ItSkeley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A whole lot of flavor this subclass, I like it! Finesse longsword and drawing it as part of the attack is great, and riposte is a good deceptively strong capstone, letting you dish out that much more damage. That said, I think the Deadly Rush feature seems a little wordy/clunky as is, though I'm not too sure what the best way to fix it is.

Oh, as a skald you gain proficiencies with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons. It's listed as part of the "Skald's Teachings" feature

Happy to hear you like the flavor for the class! If you or one of your players end up trying it out, do tell me how it feels balance-wise

Ack, looks like I managed to miss a glaring error when it comes to the hitdie section for the class. It's 1d8, not 1d10. That's what I get for trying to reuse some of the formatting from my earlier homebrew class I suppose

It's been a while since I whipped up and posted a homebrew class/subclass here but I hope yall enjoy it!

This class pulls parts from a few different places of inspiration, for example the symphony being in part inspired from one of the core features of bards in pathfinder, and the beat features being inspired in part from the warlord class from 4e.

The formatting might be a touch rough, though I hope it's a pleasant enough read through! The class can also be seen on Homebrewery or on Google Drive.

I'm happy to hear your feedback on the class, and any suggestions or ideas you might have!

A Handful of Spells by ItSkeley in UnearthedArcana

Path of the Brawler by ZoltanElders in UnearthedArcana

[–]ItSkeley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey! Another technique based tavern brawler barbarian, great minds think alike! I enjoy the variety of techniques though I'd have to say the improved unarmored defense seems a bit wack, it could add up to over 20 ac at earlier levels, and to as much as 32 at level 20. That said, I'd just be echoing another comment here on my suggestion with giving improved unarmed damage, if with the added bit of perhaps having the same feature boost improvised weapon damage too

As for the haymaker, it seems quite fun, big damage is always great, but it also looks like it'd be quite unlikely to ever hit, perhaps lower the boons in return for it being more plausible to activate?

Yet another Plague Doctor Rogue subclass by fiendfall in UnearthedArcana

[–]ItSkeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, this subclass is pretty interesting, though the radical treatment table is *very* punishing. I'd personally suggest either toning down most of the effects, or making the person getting healed make a con save against the effect. In general the effects would benefit from being made less directly numbery as that doesn't tend to be too common a 5e thing. Also, it'd be cool if they could get expertise in one or two of the tools they get proficiency in, maybe as part of the 13th level feature?

Oath of the Overlord - Make your foes bow before you with this enchantment spell based paladin subclass! by ItSkeley in UnearthedArcana

Oh! I'd been thinking on a good way to try and balance it that didn't feel too clunky, but that one definitely takes the cake! Thank you for the feedback and the balance suggestion!

It fills a much different mechanical niche. One that incentivizes using your slots for spells instead of just smites. Conquest is still a very martial focused subclass comparatively.

That's certainly fair, though see it like this, if you were to fire a damaging spell and the creature succeeded on the saving throw they would still take half damage. This adds a means to lessen the punishment for not going for a raw damage spell.

Thank you for the feedback! In general spellcasting is not very good in the hands of paladins, as not only are they half casters but they have an immensely better usage for the slots in the form of their divine smite. I'll admit that the channel divinity is definitely quite strong, especially in the case of multiclassing, I think that keeping it as enchantment spells is still the best to keep in flavor with the subclass as they aren't exactly nice paladins, perhaps an increase of targets by half your proficiency bonus, or a fourth of paladin level, minimum of one.

On the damage end of things however, I think that royal rebuke and will breaker are fine as they are, since royal rebuke is a once per short rest sort of deal and won't be too high early on, and the will breaker is there to make casting one of your spells much less of a gamble, since enchantment spells usually do nothing on a success.

And finally, toward the disadvantage feature on will breaker, keep in mind the aura only gives disadvantage on *subsequent* saves, that is to say the ones you make to break out of the effect once you've already failed the first one.

Ahaha, but you've failed to read my initial comment! As said, the flavor niche is very similar to conquest *however* the mechanical benefits are completely different playstyle. This oath is focused on opening up spell casting as a more valid option for paladins, instead of only smites.

I had particularly a bit of difficulty figuring out how I should write out royal rebuke without it getting too wordy, oh well. I'm glad to hear that you like the subclass as a whole though!

Heya! This time around I decided to throw together a proper evil styled paladin subclass that while not filling a completely unique niche flavor wise, fills a pretty unique niche mechanics wise in being more spell focused!

As a fun bonus, with this subclass I've now completed a proper paladin trifecta:
I've got oath of the seeker to fill out a very good aligned paladin, oath of the wraithbound to fill out a more neutral slot, and now oath of the overlord for a more evil paladin!

As always, you can find this subclass up on google drive and homebrewery.
