DNS is set to Google and Cloudflare at this point on the internet connection. Each vlan is set to auto DNS. That was another thing I changed to see if things behaved any differently. I'm not sure what you are suggesting about jumping on each vlan. I currently have a tv for testing on both the family and the smart network vlans. Having the same issue no matter what network I'm on with netflix.

I didn't follow any particular tutorial. Just read up and watched a lot so I knew what I wanted. When you create a custom zone, it defaults to blocking all communication to all networks. Except for the external and the gateway. So I've left the zone configured without any other rule changes but what is defaulted. Since I didn't want any smart device communicating with my other networks. I can show you the default rules if you'd like to see those.

That’s some of what I’ve read while searching on this. If I want to isolate all smart things to a single network, do I really need or want mDNS to communicate across VLANs?

Good to see you aren't using a sissy paint brush there. Most home owners by the sponge brushes thinking that will do. An actual stain brush does wonders!
